New to the model family will be hybrid drivetrains, as revealed previously by CEO Martin Winterkorn, but prior to the release of the hybrid car will be new BlueMotion diesel versions as well as a possible performance version with VW’s outstanding super-turbocharged 1.4L TSI engine.
Due to the low cost of the Polo, the hybrid system is likely to a mild version that utilizes regenerative braking and electronically controlled components in similar fashion to BMW’s EfficientDynamics technology.
The next-gen polo is also expected to benefit from VW’s recently announced cheaper version of DSG and, when combined with the efficient BlueMotion diesel, could deliver a mileage figure in excess of 60mpg.

I drive a 2006 Polo Hatch and it looks much better than this newer version.
The shape looks too much like a Golf 5. I think I'll give this one a pass!
