Audi recently took the wraps off its new TT-S range at the Detroit Auto Show, which means we can now look forward to the model we've all been waiting for. The new car is the performance RS variant of the new TT and it’s set to be the fastest production TT ever.
There’s been much debate about the power source for the new super-coupe with most suggesting either a twin-turbo version of the current 3.2L V6 engine or a brand new five-cylinder turbo unit. However, a reputable source at Audi has revealed the powertrain will in fact be a 2.3L VR5 engine fitted with a turbocharged. Final output will be about 308hp (230kW), and the car could simply be called ‘TT-R’.
Previous spy-shots revealed a prototype with huge cross-drilled brake discs and upgraded calipers as well as an electronic rear-spoiler covered with a strip of carbon-fiber. This latest rendering of the car gives a preview as to what the final version is likely to look when it’s unveiled later this, possibly at October's Paris Motor Show. Key features are the extended wheel arches, new bumpers and lowered ride-height.

I own a 2003 TT 225C s-line, pumping out 280 healthy HP. The new TT was for me a glorified Golf GTI, the recent TT-S with 272HP and a 2-litre engine can surely be given another 60-70 HP. The newcomer, R or RS was expected with 365, to topple the Z4, the Cayman etc. etc. If the article is true (maybe, who knows) then everything goes down the drain and my next car will definetely not be a TT-RS or TT-R as I was planning as the 305 sounds ridiculousely underpowered. Let's wait till audi anounces something cause up till now everybody says what he wants...

That rendering's front end is simply perfect. The honeycomb painted in matte black matches perfectly with the air intake shapes. Wheelarches might have been larger, as in the TT Clubsport. It's sad that my racing game (Autito) only features shots from behind, or I would have taken some cues from this picture.

305hp? In this day and age 305hp for a sports coupe is not enough, especially with 4wd, it won't be very light so will need more power.
