Californian sports car startup Rezvani in November unveiled a new model called the Beast Alpha whose hallmark feature is a new type of door design called “sidewinder” doors.
The name is derived from the fact the doors remain parallel to the body as they are moved outwards. Each of the car’s two doors is mounted on a sliding hinge and functions much like a minivan’s main door, albeit moving forward instead of in reverse.
Rezvani has released a video featuring CEO and founder Ferris Rezvani operating a door on the Beast Alpha. He was present during the reveal of the car in Los Angeles on November 16.

As previously reported, the Beast Alpha is a less punishing version of the open-top and doorless Beast that Rezvani first presented in 2014. The two cars feature a similar exterior design though the Beast Alpha rides on the bones of a Lotus Elise while the Beast relies on an Ariel Atom as its donor. The Beast Alpha also benefits from a targa roof.
Peak power of 500 horses is generated by a Honda-sourced 2.4-liter inline-4. The engine is thoroughly worked over by Rezvani, with modifications including a turbocharger, porting of the cylinder heads, better breathing mods, custom camshaft profiles, and custom ECU mapping. The standard transmission is a 6-speed manual but a 6-speed sequential unit is available.
Anyone interested in the Beast Alpha will need at least $200,000.
