It’s been almost a year since Polish supercar startup Arrinera first unveiled its Hussarya. While the company continues to jump through all the hoops required to get the car certified and on sale, it will offer a dedicated racing version that was shown for the first time at Autosport International 2016 currently underway in the United Kingdom.

The racing version is called the Hussarya GT, and it’s been designed for FIA GT4 competition. It’s being offered by a new division, Arrinera Racing, and in an effort to keep the car affordable and easy to maintain it skips the bespoke 8.2-liter V-8 destined for the road car in favor of a 6.2-liter V-8 sourced from General Motors Company [NYSE:GM]. The engine is rated at 430 horsepower and powers the rear wheels via a paddle-shifted, six-speed sequential gearbox from Hewland.

The internal structure of the Hussarya GT is a tubular steel space-frame which is then surrounded with aluminum, carbon fiber and Kevlar honeycomb structures for the body. Push-rod style suspension with Ohlins dampers and springs is found at both ends and the brakes are an Alcon setup with six-piston calipers and 15-inch discs up front. The weight of the vehicle is just 2,755 pounds.

Arrinera plans to build just a handful of Hussarya GTs per year. It’s hoped their appearance on race tracks around the world will help build the profile of the company ahead of the market launch of the road car. As for when we might see the road car finally available for sale, the last we heard Arrinera was planning a late 2016 launch.
