Bentley’s Bentayga is due for a reveal later this year but we already have a pretty good idea as to how the ultra-lux SUV will look thanks to numerous spy shots of prototypes and now an official video teasing the interior. It’s clear the look has been substantially updated since the reveal of the polarizing EXP 9 F concept back at 2012’s Geneva Motor Show. This is especially true for the interior, which appears less fussy than the one in the concept.

There are also some new tech features confirmed in the video, such as a head-up display, digital instrument cluster and night vision mode. And surrounding the engine starter button, located on the center control, is a vehicle dynamics mode selector allowing the driver to pick the ideal vehicle setup depending on the situation. We also see a speedometer that ends at 300 kmh (186 mph), which suggests the vehicle’s top speed may be limited in the interest of safety.
Production of the Bentayga, whose name is inspired by the Canary Islands’ Roque Bentayga rocky outcrop as well as the wild Taiga forests of the north, is slated to start later this year, with the basic body shell to be built in Bratislava, Slovakia and the final assembly done at Bentley’s home in Crewe, England.

Underpinning the Bentayga is the same SUV version of the Volkswagen Group’s new MLB Evo platform that debuted in the 2016 Audi Q7, which is why the bodies will be built at the same plant responsible for the Q7. V-8 and W-12 engines are expected at launch, and Bentley has confirmed that a plug-in hybrid option will be made available in 2017. We could also see a new diesel option offered at some point.
Look for a debut at a major auto show in the second half of this year, with sales to commence sometime in 2016.
