The car is well-proportioned and its character lines add a certain level of aggression, but not too much like on some rival models. We're particularly fond of the rear fenders, which give the car a powerful stance.
While the Q50’s exterior barely resembles that of the car it replaces, its initial powertrain offerings should be familiar to fans of the brand.
When it hits showrooms this summer, the Q50 will be offered with either a 3.7-liter V-6 rated at 328 horsepower or a hybrid system rated at a combined 354 horsepower. This hybrid system is the same setup found in the M35h and could potentially see the new Q50 deliver 0-60 mph acceleration figures of less than 5.5 seconds and fuel economy as high as 29 mpg combined.
Both powertrains will come with a seven-speed automatic with paddle shifters, and both will be available with all-wheel drive. Rear-wheel drive will be standard.
The Q50’s arrival also heralds the start of Infiniti’s new naming strategy, instigated by the automaker’s new global president Johan de Nysschen, who is featured in the video above.
