A more focused, more powerful version of the already edgy Supersport, the Supersport R gets a 2.0-liter Ford Duratec engine rated at 180 horsepower. That's 40 more horsepower than you'll find in the standard Supersport, and with just 1,180 pounds at the curb, it's just a touch behind to a Corvette Z06 in power-to-weight. Grippy Avon tires and a limited slip differential ensure the lightweight Supersport R will be able to make use of its trim-but-potent platform.
If you're lucky enough to live in the Caterham's home market of England, you'll be able to buy the car for just £24,995 ($39,700) in self-build kit form or £27,995 ($44,500) for the turn-key model. Here in the U.S., you'll probably need to contact a dealer or importer.
Lest you think this is the most insane thing Caterham can get up to, let us remind you of the 500-horsepower RS Levante and the 263-horsepower R500 Superlight.
As with any Caterham, only the truly dedicated (or slightly mad) need apply.
