Since its debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, Cadillac has been showing off the new technology that sits inside the 2013 XTS sedan. Today, the newest feature in the spotlight is the Safety Alert Seat.

Using haptic feedback (vibrations) in the seat bottom to give directional alerts to potential obstacles or crashes, the Safety Alert Seat works in conjunction with an array of video, ultrasonic, and radar sensors to see what's around the vehicle--front, back, and sides.

To get the fancy seats, you'll need to add the Cadillac Driver Awareness or Driver Assist packages, which bundle other features like lane departure warning, forward collision alert, side blind zone alert, and rear cross traffic alert (Driver Awareness package); or adaptive cruise control, automatic collision preparation, and front and rear automatic braking systems (Driver Assist package).
