One of the most anticipated new cars of the year is the 2013 Audi RS5 super-sports coupe, which sails into showrooms this spring complete with fresh new styling, high-tech features, and one of the last naturally-aspirated performance V-8s from a German automaker.

The new 2013 model is a facelifted version of a car that has been on sale in other parts of the globe for several years now.

It will debut as a coupe but will be followed shortly by a brand new convertible model.

This latest video from Audi will get any rev-head’s heart thumping, showcasing the new RS5 in an empty desert landscape and playing back the beautiful tune of the car’s 4.2-liter V-8.

In case you missed our previous report, the RS5 develops a peak output of 450 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. Its engine is matched to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch gearbox, equipped with launch control, and power goes to all four wheels via an updated quattro all-wheel-drive system.

This revised quattro system now uses a self-locking crown-gear center differential, which can widely vary the amount of torque sent to the front or rear wheels. Under normal driving conditions, torque is split 40 percent front and 60 percent rear, but as traction changes, up to 85 percent of the torque can be sent to the rear wheels (or up to 70 percent to the front).

Audi isn’t telling us how much the RS5 will sell for just yet, nor is it saying how many it will bring into the U.S. If you want an RS5 in your own garage, you had better start getting friendly with your Audi dealer real quick.
