What do you get when you combine the record-breaking Bugatti Veyron Super Sport with the more lifestyle-oriented Veyron Grand Sport?

Why, the Bugatti Veyron Grand Super Sport of course; the ultimate in open-top driving and possibly the fastest convertible ever produced.

Such a vehicle is already in development, as our recent spy shots confirm, and as previously reported the car is likely to debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show this coming March.

According to the guys at Autoblog.nl, orders for the car have already commenced including some made by several buyers in the U.S.

Otherwise, nothing much else is known about the car, including whether or not it will even be called a Veyron Grand Super Sport.

In a previous interview the boss of Bugatti, Wolfgang Durheimer, said the 1,200 horsepower W-16 engine of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport was not compatible with the body of the Veyron Grand Sport, though a more powerful version of the open-top supercar had not been ruled out.

The spy shots confirm this somewhat, revealing a Veyron Super Sport body fitted with regular cooling ducts from the Veyron Grand Sport on its roof instead of the more extreme NACA ducts pictured below.

Expect output of this new model to lie somewhere between the 1,001 horsepower of the regular Veyron Grand Sport and 1,200 horses of the Veyron Super Sport.

Press days for the 2012 Geneva Motor Show don't commence until March 6 but in the meantime click here for our ongoing coverage of the event.
