The ELR is billed as the production version of the Converj, though it is still early in its development cycle. Performance, pricing, and market release are therefore all still either secret or undetermined. We expect more photos or design sketches to emerge soon.
The ELR will get its power from an electric propulsion system that uses a T-shaped lithium ion battery pack, an "electric drive unit," and a four-cylinder onboard engine-generator--much like the Chevy Volt, and as GreenCarReports indicated, likely an evolved verion of the Voltec powertrain.
Don Butler, Cadillac's marketing VP, said, "The concept generated instant enthusiasm. Like other milestone Cadillac models of the past, the ELR will offer something not otherwise present--the combination of electric propulsion with striking design and the fun of luxury coupe driving."
