Ferrari’s XX line of cars are your regular run-of-the-mill Italian exotics but are in fact a rolling test-bed for new technologies that will eventually filter across to Ferrari’s future road and race cars.

The first was the awesome FXX and subsequent FXX Evolution, both based on the Enzo platform and developing upwards of 850 horsepower. The second was the 599XX based on the 599 GTB Fiorano platform, and like the FXX before it was only offered to a very select group of customers known as Ferrari client test drivers.

To be recognized as a Ferrari client test driver, you either needed to know somebody very high up in the sports car company or you needed to be a long term customer, or both. Needless to say, getting your hands of a Ferrari XX experimental car is extremely difficult, or so we thought.

Over the past couple of years, a number of XX models have turned up for sale in the aftermarket. The latest is a nearly pristine 599 XX, which has only 932 miles on the clock and is priced at approximately $1,940,000.

The car is painted black and has much of its carbon fiber pieces exposed. It also has a 700 horsepower 6.0-liter V-12 engine sitting under its long bonnet, which is capable of propelling the thing around the famous Nurburgring circuit in Germany in just 6 minutes 58.16 seconds.

According to the seller, the previous owner was from France. For full details and more images of the Ferrari 599XX, click here.
