Deliveries of Audi’s stunning 560 horsepower R8 GT supercar have officially begun, with the first of 333 limited edition hard-top models being handed over to a customer from the UK. The particular example was a Phantom Black R8 GT, which was delivered to the customer at the Audi Forum in Neckarsulm, Germany, near to where it’s manufactured.

Despite its $196,800 starting price, all 333 examples of the car were sold out within weeks of launch, with orders being made in more than 23 countries around the globe. The key markets were Europe, the U.S. and the Middle East.

The fact that it sold out so quickly is no big surprise. Pumping 560 horsepower from its 5.2-liter V-10 engine, sending it to all four wheels through an R tronic sequential manual transmission, and racking up a 199 mph top speed and 3.6-second 0-60 mph time, the R8 GT is a mid-engine four-ringer's delight.

If you’re saddened that you’ve missed your chance to own this stunning beauty, never fear as Audi is working on a new R8 GT Spyder for launch next year. However, don’t wait around too long for this model as it too will only be built in limited numbers.
