For Lotus fans, the next few years should prove to be very interesting as the company pushes ahead with its five-year plan to update its model lineup, including successors to the Elise and Esprit. Sales of the Evora are going strong, and at this week’s 2010 Paris Auto Show the company is showcasing no less than six new production-intent concepts.

First up we have the successor to the legendary Esprit supercar, for which Lotus has decided not to rename. The new generation Esprit will go into production in late 2012 and is confirmed to go on sale in the spring of 2013.

Not only does this car look incredible but it has the performance to match. Lotus has stuck with its core value of performance through lightweight but added a host of technological features as well, including an optional hybrid system--the entire thing weighs around 3,200 pounds.

Power comes from a mid-mounted 5.0-liter V-8 with forced induction and peaks at 620 horsepower and 531 pound-feet and is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. Lotus claims 0-60 mph acceleration times as low as 3.4 seconds and a top speed in excess of 205 mph.

Pricing for the 2013 Lotus Esprit has been set at around the £110,000 (approximately $172,000) but this could easily change between now and its expected release date.
