Nissan is set to introduce an all-new Maxima during April’s 2015 New York Auto Show and has already given us a taste of the vehicle’s exterior. The automaker briefly showed us the car in its Super Bowl XLIX spot titled With Dad, and then followed up the sneak peek with the release of two photos showing the exterior only. We now have our first look at the interior, courtesy of a leak via the website Almuraba.

What’s immediately clear is that the design is much sportier than we’re used to seeing in the Maxima, with the center console angled towards the driver and the steering wheel getting a flat bottom. We can also see leather trim with contrast stitching and a rotary dial with buttons above it to adjust vehicle dynamic settings.

Yes, it looks like Nissan is finally taking the Maxima’s “sports sedan” descriptor seriously with the design of the 2016 model. Hopefully the car will also have the performance to back up its sporty looks, though we should warn you that the 2016 Maxima is expected to come with a CVT and front-wheel drive as standard. Powering the car, meanwhile, should be a 3.5-liter V-6 with more than 300 horsepower on tap.

As mentioned, the 2016 Nissan Maxima is scheduled to make its debut at the 2015 N.Y. Auto Show, which starts April 1. A showroom appearance should follow in the fall of 2015. For more N.Y. Auto Show coverage, head to our dedicated hub.
