An Expensive Ride
Source: Edmunds

...I am a Volvo owner since 1967. Being a mechanic, I have performed most of the non-warranty work on the Volvo myself.
My experience has been that most Volvo dealers are way too expensive for both parts and labor.
Sometimes they tend to find issues with your Volvo that never existed before you took it in.
They also often do not repair what you asked them to repair.
Recently I ordered a new key and remote for my 2009 Volvo, which was missing one of the two when I purchased it.
The key and remote were about $300. The Volvo dealer wanted another $295 to program it. I am...

IKEA on wheels
Source: Edmunds

...My first Volvo. It looks nice in an IKEA sort of way...some like it, others don't.
Seats are very comfortable. Silver metallic paint finish is amazing.
Body feels sturdy. Interior controls at first seem strange but you later realize that they are well thought out.
Good fuel economy for a car that weighs this much, yet the turbo gives it kick when you need it. Good overall drive, nice mix of sport and luxury...

Hugh Surprise
Source: Kelley Blue Book

...I drove the vehicle and was totally surprised. Comfortable, quite, and a terrific ride. Six months later it just keeps getting better. The S-60 handles like a high dollar rocket at a fraction of the cost. I can work the radio and everything works better than advertised. It doesn't have the power of my M, however as a daily driver it handles fine on our highways. My wife loves it and we plan on keeping it a long time. The tech info is simple. Put gas in it and press the accelerator. The turbo will handle the rest. I have owned about 20 different cars and SUV's in my life and the S-60 has to be...

My "Chinees" Car ?
Source: Cars.com

..."Since nov 3rd I (69) own the about latest build S60 125 kw automatic on 17" tires.
(2009 drivers edition)A no-nonsens car from solid builders. Not for glamour,
just for safe and nice driving in excellent comfortable seats.Towing a caravan with my former S60 (2006 edition2 16") through Europe was under all circumstances (up hill,
small- and high ways)a pleasure with the cruise control.R.p.m.
abt 1700-4000. The wheels of 16" are more comfortable, but with the 17 inches you can nearly go on te corner with a 90 degree hook....!Edze from The Netherlands EU"...

What a great car!!
Source: Cars.com

...We are very proud of our blue-grayish model but have been less impressed with the more generic colors (i.e. grey, silver, white, etc.) The sound system is above average with a unique dial for the radio presets as opposed to the traditional buttons. The heated leather seats have been wonderful through the cold winter. The seats (and mirrors) also have programmable memory which is convenient for a multiple driver situation. It's a Volvo so you know its safe -- airbags everywhere it seems. I could go on forever about this car but the bottom line is the S60 is a beautiful, well-crafted...

Great bang for the buck
Source: Edmunds

...I've looked at the S60's since they came out years ago...but always thought they were overpriced in the market they competed in.
However, with the recent clearance reductions, maintenance and warranty incentives...I couldn't help myself...and couldn't be happier.
Probably doesn't compete well with the BMW's, Lexus, and Infiniti in it's original price range...but against the Accord and Camry with similar features, I think it stands head and shoulders above.
To me, has a much more high-end feel ride. Gas mileage for me runs about 24 in combined driving, or regular unleaded...

Solid Ride.
Source: Edmunds

...This is my second car from Sweden. I love the exterior styling, it's beautiful but not flashy.
The car drives very good, you have the press the gas paddle a little more than other cars but I guess they made it that way for safety.
Volvo did a good job on the interior fit and finish.
Although the dash is a little last century on the look, but all the bottoms are well laid out and easy to use. Good mileage per gallon thanks to the turbo...

Excellent milage for the power it has
Source: MSN Autos

...I averaged over 30 MPG on a 3500 mile trip to Texas and back cruising at 80 MPH a good distance and averaging close to 70. It was so comfortable the whole trip. I have had a few repairs such as bushings and a couple of electronics but they were under warranty. I still have an issue on occasion with the door locks popping open on a door when I remotely lock it. They did switch a sensor once but a few years later it has come back. The T5 has plenty of power and this is from a guy who drives old American muscle cars. It handles great too. I am 54 so I am not a crazed driver anymore but I love...

nice sports sedan and a deal on the 2009
Source: Edmunds

...This s60 is like a sports sedan, not luxary. The 2.5 turbo is great.
The front seats like sitting in a cockpit. I owned a 2002 passat, 2006 passat, 2008 Nissan maxima.
The max ride was better, but this car is easier to drive, more like the passats but better.
I just $9000. Off on the s60. As they are clearing them out for a redesign.
These cars are a bit overpriced normally I wouldnt look at this make but with this money off was a better deal than the new maxima. Classy little sedan...

Why should I also consider these?

The 2009 S60 lands at the entry end of the mid-size sport-sedan spectrum, where a few thousand in sticker price or a slight difference in payments might make the difference.

That said, it’s hard to justify the S60’s boost in price for ’09 when it now lines up with the sporty, redesigned Acura TL, which has a much roomier interior, plus plenty of technology and safety features.

The Saab 9-5—from Volvo’s rival Swedish brand—is perhaps the closest competitor to the S60, but the Saab is even more outdated, with a design that reaches back a full decade.

The 2009 Volvo S60 boasts better interior appointments and a better ride than the 9-5, though the (more expensive) 9-5 is more of a driver’s car—and it has a roomier backseat.

The Audi A6 is another alternative; it offers either front-wheel drive or quattro all-wheel drive and has a roomy interior that feels more upscale and exhibits a nice ride, but it’s also significantly more expensive than the others.

Those who want refinement and a stylish appearance, inside especially, should consider the Nissan Maxima.

The new Maxima isn’t at all the sport sedan it once was, but it’s comfortable—almost opulent—inside and has some of the features of pricier lux sedans.

2009 Saab 9-5
If you don’t mind buying a 2009 Saab 9-5 that looks almost exactly like the 1999 model, there’s still a lot of quirky appeal.

2008 Nissan Maxima
The 2008 Nissan Maxima is a bit more aesthetically appealing than a top-of-the-line Altima or Accord, but it doesn’t perform any better.

2008 Audi A6
The 2008 Audi A6 has plenty of competition, but its graceful look and feel set it apart from more brutal German and more clinical Japanese iron.

2008 Acura TL
The 2008 Acura TL is a "nice" car that's well equipped in every category except personality.
