TDIs are the greatest!
Source: Edmunds

...I now have 60000 miles on my Golf TDI and am still astounded by the quality of this little car.
Fuel mileage continues to average 45 MPG, and the car remains solid and problem free.
I can drive it hard when the mood strikes, but it's also great for hauling stuff.
Rear seats fold completely flat, making a nice cargo area.
Highly recommended little car. If considering a used TDI, make sure the proper VW spec motor oil was used in the engine. Regular motor oil will gum up the turbo and other engine parts...

A good all around family fun vehicle
Source: MSN Autos

...however it should be possible to have 4 memory buttons to program different drivers' seat positions so it doesn't have to be a chore. And the UGLY, HUGE interior door handles. UGH! Last but not least... GAS MILEAGE! They advertise 16-20 mpg... Try 14 to 15.3 tops. I'm not impressed. I didn't expect great mileage. It is a truck, after all. But I did expect to be in range. Overall: Overall, a great vehicle. About $5,000 too pricey, but great. Interior could match itself better. The underdeat storage system is a grey color that matches nothing else in the car. The great, big chrome plastic trim...

Best car I've owned
Source: Edmunds

...I was looking for a car for traveling back and forth to Florida and one that gets good fuel miliage.
I have had a place for about the last four years in Delray FL which is 1,150 miles from my New Jersey home.
I had a Mercedes 500 which by the way was a beautiful handling car.
I watched SUV's back and forth and was considerating getting the Mercedes SUV.
I researched the gas milage and price and decided not to buy it.
Years ago I had a diesel VW pickup that I ran to death and got great gas milage. I looked up on the net the features and price of the new VW's and bought...

Golf TDI

...This is a great little car. I'm glad that I bought it when I did.
It seems they are hard to come by. I keep very careful record of my gas mileage and the overall average is approxiately 43 miles/gallon. It is a great little car that seems to be well built...

worst new vw I owned and that is my third one.
Source: Cars.com

...At 600 miles, the front end noises, from clunking to CV joint noises, which the dealer could not determine the cause, however they tightened things up and changed transmission fluid. At 2000 miles the sunroof started it's rattle, they took it apart and put it back together with some additional sound proofing material. Then, and that is the biggest problem for which I want VW USA to take their car back, the right rear passenger door hits the C pillar causing heavy gauging of the frame and the hatchback door does not line up with the quarter panel on the same side of that door. Their fix and...

My Golf
Source: Edmunds

...I have a 2005.5 Volkswagen Golf GLS 6 speed auto. This car is fast, fun to drive, and very comfortable.
I realy like it. I feel it was a bargan given the equipment it came with.
The cold weather package is a must in the north. My other car is a turbo diesel pickup so I am probaly not a good judge of the handling,
but the Golf car is a real treat to drive and and seams to be put together very well...

VW - Rocks!
Source: Edmunds

...My Volkswagen Golf has been a very reliable, fun car to own.
I carpool to work and have fit 4 adults in it semi-comfortably.
I also have taken it on road-trips with my girl and dog, there is always plenty of room.
I am now looking into running "green" diesel (100% clean). Apparently no modifications are needed to accomidate the alternaive fuel...

Buy a diesel! Then convert it to HHO hyb
Source: Edmunds

...Awesome car made better with HHO system. I wouldn't bother with a VW that's not diesel, why would you? 40-50 mpg race car! How can you get any better?...
