Yaris Hatchback 2008
Source: CarGurus

...Handling and braking are great, cost effectively, wish had more HP under the hood though.
Build quality is fine, the frame feels very stiff.
I like the looks inside and outside. Requires low maintenance, but it's almost new...
Milage is great but the best part, it's a fun car to drive when you get the hang of it. Very soft clutch and gear box. Very comfortable to drive having a Manual Transmition...

Happy Owner
Source: Cars.com

...But even so, the 2 door is really a great car. There are MANY add-ons that are available and I added almost all of them including auto dim mirror and xm radio and body molding. Yaris is the only car so far that has gotten it right and moved the instruments to the center where they are not hidden behind the steering wheel so you can actually see them without the night time glare shining in your face from behind the steering wheel. It was a bold move and maybe some people dont get it but it took me 2 seconds to appreciate it a LOT. This is my favorite car and I have owned a good many vehicles...

Hutterite Hatchback

...Great little commuter car. Don't like the transmission (automatic).
With the car's electric throttle and slushbox, this thing shifts at weird times on hard acceleration or when passing cars...
was not fun on road trip. Decent room inside of car though... great for in the city...

Buy this Car!
Source: Cars.com

...!). It is very roomy on the inside and comfortably fits 4 adults. The back seats recline and move backward, allowing for even more room for my 6-foot sons no problems. Only routine maintenance (oil changes, one set of new tires, new front brake pads) and I replaced the stock speakers for more bang. I don't like having the cup holder in front of the air register on the side, so I have to close off the register. Also there isn't much room for my purse, so I have to put it on the middle back floor.Of course, the gas mileage -- I do drive fast (80 mph on road trips), with AC on and a full load of...

Quick Corner Car. Ha

...Its under powered but so light that you hardly realize you aren't going that fast. Taking corners is the funnest part. The car just sticks. It's just a fun cheap car to drive...

IT'S STILL A WINNER!
Source: Cars.com

...Now I have had the chance to really get to know this car. Summed up, it is AWESOME VALUE! Everything is a 5 star except for driver's seat comfort. The back seats rate as 5 stars but the driver's seat is 2 stars. It took me over a month and a half to adjust the seat & tilt steering so that my knees would not hit the steering wheel and goodness forbid if anyone changed the seat settings around. Still great on gas, it only needs an oil change every 5000 miles, turns on a dime and very responsive! Despite the Expert Reviews, I like the console in the center of the dash. No longer do I have to...

Good Idea But POOR Quality and Resale
Source: Edmunds

...30,000 in first year, small accident and seat warped. Then pulled too close to curb and pulled inner fender out. Tried to trade on anther toyota product and found it was worth 6500 less than what I had paid for it. Wanted a Yaris for fuel economy but bought a loaded KIA M/van for 50 less a month than a base yaris. Also trim on roof blew off going down interstate and hit another car. POOR WORKMANSHIP ON SCION. You can tell it is the LOW end of Toyota. Back seat bottom is cheesy and uncomfortable. Gas mileage dropped to 22 on interstate driving depending on type of gas...

Love My Yaris
Source: CarGurus

...It took me a lot of time to decide on a car. One thing I wanted was great gas mileage.
I finally decided on the Toyota Yaris. It is the perfect car for me.
For a small car it is extremely roomy and has a large trunk.
The performance is more than I expected and I average 38 MPG.
It took a little while to get use to the dash controls being in the center of the dash instead of over the steering wheel but that is okay now.
It I had to do it again I would buy the Yaris...Toyota quality cannot be beat!...

Nice Clean Comfortable And Supprisingly Roomy. Fits 5 Comfortably
Source: CarGurus

...This car had power locks.air , decent stereo. Standard. Gets 36 to 39mpg on highway. only had 11,000 miles on it. didn't love the color red. handles well. has enough power...

Why should I also consider these?

Last year, the Yaris replaced the Echo in Toyota’s lineup as its least expensive new vehicle.

As in the 2007 model year, two Yaris body styles are available for 2008: a three-door Liftback and a four-door sedan.

A separate review covers the 2008 Toyota Yaris sedan.

The 2008 Chevrolet Aveo has a bargain-basement price, and with the exception of good interior comfort, you get what you pay for.

The 2008 Honda Fit is one of the smallest cars on the road, but it’s fun to drive, huge inside, and a tremendous value.

2008 Hyundai Accent
The 2008 Hyundai Accent delivers econocar basics with a high-quality interior and fun handling for a great price.

2008 Kia Rio
The 2008 Kia Rio is a good choice among subcompacts and it’s stylish, but standard anti-lock brakes and better side-impact protection would help its case against the Honda Fit.
