54 MPG ON HIGHWAY
Source: Edmunds

...Have had more than 40 vehicle and I can say this vehicle is worth the price espicially with the gas prices.
Good power for the average driving. Seats are comfortable and plenty of leg and head room. I can say it is worth the money and your time to drive one...

...Pros: Comfortable with leather seats which was dealer installed - and of course gas milage - 3 weeks later bought one for my wife !
Cons: Nothing really - Overall: My wife and I each

2000+ miles in and I love it
Source: Cars.com

..."I bought the 2011 Prius new--I love it. It's a four cylinder and so the power is the power of a four cylinder--so I knew what I was getting into with that.
I drive a combination of country roads and highway for my 30 mile commute to work each day and I love that I am getting about 54 miles per gallon.
The car drives well, is roomy for a sedan (I previously drove an SUV), has little road noise, and I like the style of it.
Visibility is different and takes some getting used to--but no problems. I am happy every day when I drive this car :)"...

Great economical car
Source: Cars.com

...It does getting used to the performance of the electric motor. It is slow to pick up speed unless you step on the gas and kick in the gasoline engine. The car is very easy on gas. I have been getting 48-50 miles per gallon on Hwy driving. The best I got was 51.5 MPG on Hwy driving. Stereo and climate contols on the steering are great. So is the dashboard display which give you a lot of information and helps you drive in an efficient and economical way. The looks small from outside but it is very roomy from inside. It has good leg room for the rear passingers. Overall it is a great car for the...

2004 Prius
Source: Cars.com

..."We take 11,000 mile trips across the US each summer and enjoy the reliability and efficiency of the 50 mpg.
The state of WI was a surprise as the car mileage jumped from 45-48 to 54-58 with every fill up there. Once outside WI our mileage fell back to the mid 40's...

Never thought I'd get one...
Source: Edmunds

...Pay half at the pump and going twice as far. At the gas station is where this car makes the most sense. I also realize why Prius drivers are so annoying to be behind.. its because they are trying to keep in ECO mode all the time! I just drive it like a regular car and I'm still getting 44 mpg with mixed driving. I am 6'2" and 238 lbs., so the seat was not made for me. I had to go to an upholstery shop to build up the seat bottom foam and side bolsters. Much much better afterward and no more neck pain. Crummy seats, but great car...

The ONE
Source: Edmunds

...I've owned a 2011 for only 8 months, and it has 15,000 miles on it.
The mpg = 54! This is my 2nd Prius. The 1st was a generation 2. The 2011 handles well, is fun to drive, and simply easy on the pocketbook...

02 PRIUS
Source: Edmunds

...In fact we bought an 08 Prius and gave the 02 to our son to drive to school. I expect we will always have Prius for the foreseeable future. Gas mileage is lower in winter (35-39), and as high as 48 mpg in summer on a 700 mile road trip. It's still weird when the engine shuts down when at a stop light....but that's just money in my pocket ! There have been zero-nada problems with anything. It just purrs along all the time. We like the 08 even better because Toyota updated many things like a a fold down rear seat, better stereo radio, and even more room in back seat...

Amazing take on the Prius in a Lexus vein...
Source: Cars.com

..."I came to own a CT in a circuitous route: I purchased a P 2011 Prius for my wife last month and fell in love with her car.
I had decided to trade my truck (07 Acura RDX) on a new Prius, but the idea of having two identical cars bugged me, so I went and test drove the CT.
Much to my surprise, a CT could be had for about $1,000 more than my Prius IV with leather and nav, albeit with vinyl and without nav.
But it was a Lexus, and the car felt like a Lexus when I drove it.
The handling is what sold me; I can live with the lack of drivetrain power, I'm buying the car to get 40...

The Answer
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: Its simple MPG Cons: Rear vision Overall: Been a car buff all my life.
Traded in a beautiful 97 Jag Vanden Plas and I couldn't be happier.
The Prius is not a luxury sedan but it excells at what it was built for..If you ever complain about high gas prices just shut up and buy one. ECONOMICAL, SAFE, and ENVIROMENTALY SOUND...

Why should I also consider these?

Take one look at the Honda Insight and you'll see why it's perhaps the top rival to the 2011 Toyota Prius; it has nearly the same, swept-back aero-body roofline; however the Insight has Honda's IMA mild-hybrid system and disappointing mileage compared to the Prius.

The Prius is roomier than the Insight as well.

More noteworthy is the Fusion Hybrid, a roomy mid-size sedan that gets 41 mpg in city driving, with a very smooth hybrid system and a better ride-and-handling balance than the Prius.

Left-brain thinkers will opt for the VW Jetta TDI diesel, which costs more than gas-engined Jettas but delivers fuel economy in the 40-mpg range and a reputation for durability—as well as great handling and a suave interior.

Two other rival models are technically from the same automaker as the Prius, though they probably wouldn't like you to think about it that way: The HS 250h is a small luxury sedan based on the new Prius but incorporating a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and a variation of the Prius' hybrid system.

Overall, the HS feels somewhat cramped inside and isn't much more responsive than the Prius, while getting lower mileage.

The new Lexus CT 200h hatchback is a better choice for most who want a sportier, more distinctive hybrid; it has a roomy interior as well as improved handling and plenty of nice details.

2011 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan
The 2011 Volkswagen Jetta steps back in tech time and lowers its German street cred—but still delivers a better driving feel and more back-seat room than many other compact sedans.
