...Pros: By far the best vehicle I have ever owned! Toyota reliability, very rugged , tough truck!
Runs like new at 120K! Cons: poor gas mileage, no cupholders.
Overall: This truck is awesome! I've owned mine 2 years & the only repairs was replacing brake pads & rotors approx. $630 at local Toyota dealership. 14 years old & rockin'! I'll never sell it!!!!...

Love them so much we now have 2
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: Reliability and comfort Cons: not much Overall: After owning many suv's (including Range Rover and Jeep), our mechanic steered us towards a Landcruiser.
It has been wonderful....so much so that we bought another.
We now have 2 1999 Landcruisers with 152k and 138k miles on them. Both are extremely healthy and reliable. All we do is change the oil and brakes!...

Keeps running and running
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: This is the most relaible vehicle I have ever owned!
I bought it with 20k miles and now have 204k and have only had to do the normal brakes, tires, oil changes, etc.
It runs and runs and still handles and feels like new!
Cons: It is not the best on gas! Overall: I am a vehicle nut and I love this thing more than anything I have owned.
Not only is it relaible, but I have not seen a snow storm or a mud bog that intimidated the LandCrusher...

Why should I also consider these?

The Land Cruiser has a long-established reputation around the world for respectable off-road performance in far-flung deserts, mountains, and forests, and its off-road ability is every bit as good as the previous model.

The closest rival to the 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser remains the Range Rover, which has similar off-road ability, along with Terrain Response, a system that allows the user to set the vehicle systems for the best performance on certain types of terrain.

The Range Rover arguably feels much more luxurious inside and more worth the price, if interior materials are the judge.

The Mercedes GL 550 is also a possibility if you plan to tow but not go off-roading as much; it has an especially useful third-row seat.

But finally, pricing is a stumper.

The sticker price of a loaded Land Cruiser tops $73,000, while the Lexus version of the Land Cruiser, the LX 570, starts at $73,800.

The running boards are perhaps a little more prominent, but with upgraded materials inside the Lexus, upscale options like heated and ventilated seats, and the better service at the Lexus dealership, why not?

2008 Land Rover Range Rover
The 2008 Land Rover Range Rover remains the ultimate luxury sport-utility vehicle, a well-heeled performer for those well-heeled enough to own one.

2008 Lexus LX 570
The 2008 Lexus LX 570 comes loaded with worthwhile technology, but it's not as distinctive as a Range Rover or an Escalade.
