A real surprise
Source: Cars.com

...A very good value for the money paid. Performance and handling are competent. This is NOT a sports car, It's a grocery getter and go to anywhere you need to go vehicle. It has provided me with reliable transportation both locally and on long distance trips. Pretty good gas mileage. (24-27 mpg local. 30-34 mpg on hwy trips) The A/C is cold and the heater will run you out in a short time. Seats are comfortable, not fancy. same for the interior.I've always had the selling dealer service the car with the excption of new tires.Trustworthy people there. If I were to buy another car to replace this...

Alero Lover

...Overall: This is the best car I have ever owned. I leased this car but ended up buying a 2003 model.
Performance is excellent and the style is unbeatable. It's a shame that Oldsmobile will no longer be around to produce this unique driving experience...

Must Have

..."I got my Alero about two years ago, and it's never broken down, or had problems of any sort.
Oldsmobiles are generally pretty good cars, and they tend to go a long time without needing any sort of repairs. Or maybe my family has just has good luck with them. I would highly recommend."...

Good car

...000 miles and other disturbing little noises here and there that came up following a minor impact on the ice.I did take good care of the car (changed transmission fluid on time, tune ups, etc) so I can avoid having to deal with frstrating problems later on.My boyfriend is also a mechanic and kept an eye on it -- he told me the car can easily run 200,000 if I continue to take good care of it.Bottom line, any car will give you problems along the way regarless of the make and model but you can definetly avoid reaching down deep in your pocket if you just do everything the owner's manual tells...

Outstanding!

...I used to drive a piece of crap Oldsmobile Alero...and well you can probably guess why they are no longer in business.
I will never buy another American car at least for awhile.
I listened to a friend's advice to get a VW (she drives the Golf and loves it) and what an excellent choice I made.
The car looks and drives like a dream car. It is sleek and very modern looking. It is excellent on gas and drives well on the highways. I love it when people's heads turn when they see my Jetta!...

Alero Hottie

...Pros: Great, smooth ride. Good gas milage 27/36. Kickin sound system and comfortable seats.
Cons: Replace hazard light switch was a pain to sch and the film is pealing off the control panel. Overall: Good buy overall...

Great little car
Source: MSN Autos

...I like how it looks and over the years have had many compliments on it. For a tow driver house the two door model is great but for a family it would be way to small. Cons: Nothing except a problem with the power windows. I had to have the passenger window replaces at 23,000 miles because it was slipping and finally wouldn't close. Now at 72,000 miles the passenger windo is doing the same thing. Overall: Great car. Very reliable. Always starts in the cold. I live in Northern Minnestota and often have to start the car in far below zero temps. It has never failed me...

A Great Car
Source: MSN Autos

...Cons: Brakes -- GM needs to revisit the materials used on their brakes. I have owned 2 Camaros, 2 Aleros, and a Blazer -- all had brake problems. Overall: Very good car for the buck. Excellent accelleration and gas mileage once broken in. Styling is pleasing to the eye. As for the trade-in value -- it's a known fact that a car is by no means an investment to cash in on after using it. Buy the car, enjoy the car, and trade it in for as much as you can get towards a better car. The price allows the Olds Alero to be paid for in a reasonable amount of time (3-4 years), hence having a vehicle for...
