Wife is happy....I'm happy
Source: Cars.com

..."We bought our 2008 Pathfinder in November and we couldn't be more pleased.
We have the 4x4 LE V8 and love it!! Yeah it does go through the gas but we knew that going in.
Strong, Solid and attractive are the adjectives that come to mind. I would recommend this to my closest friend."...

Acura Legend is too good!
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: Man where to start, Father has owned this car since 1990.
Gave it to me for a first car 5 years ago, and it still runs perfect.
254,000 miles and I still drive it today to work 5 days a week (over 100 mile a day) instead of my 2001 pathfinder.
Cons: Leaking sunroof. A/C doesn't work well. Some transmission issues at times.
Rust. Overall: Very nice car for a first car. And believe me this one has taken a beating, hailing from new york city and ending up in the rough rocky mountains for over 15 years.
The only thing that will kill this car is the rust. The engine...

best money ever spent

..."My wife is on her third Pathfinder and wouldn't have anything else.
First one was a '87 and we put 360K on it with very little trouble.
Her second was a '96 and she put 260K on it and it was never in the shop for anything but routine maint.
The one she has now is a '08 and she is happier than ever. We are retired so having a good reliable car is very important. Also keeping the wife happy is important."...

Great value for price
Source: Cars.com

...This Pathfinder comes with many standard features that are add-ons with the other two vehicles. I love the backup camera, and the vehicle control center. I'm 6'3" and I fit great in it. The suv does ride like a truck. It can bounce around on the road. I drive a mixture of highway and city, and have been averaging 18.2 mpg. Taking it off road here in Colorado has been no problem. Plenty of clearance. You can style up the looks of it with accessories like chrome grills and door handles to make it stand out from the pack."...

Rugged, Reliable, Refined

..."It goes anywhere in any conditions, handles exceptionally well for a truck-based vehicle, offers reasonable comfort, has a refreshingly simple design and layout, and is ruggedly reliable.
Too bad about the gas mileage."...

Terrific car
Source: Cars.com

..."I bought this car "used" at 90k, now it has 110k miles, it has very very reliable for me.very comfy, super powerful, good features all around, been a wonderful car.
Great on snow and ice, especially in hills and slippery surfaces.
It has a beast under the hood, step on the gas and you unleash it.I have never had any major probs. My minor repairs included fixing a dangling skid plate,
oil cooler leak, brakes, sway bar link, tire alignment. Its not terribly good on gas but I can live with that.A must buy for people hunting for a medium sized SUV, which is powerful and reliable"...

Great suv
Source: Cars.com

..."I have had my v8 pathfinder for about 2 yrs now and no problems.
I have read about the few issues that other people were having and it seems to be only the v6 model.
My v8 is amaazing, shifts great, sturdy and tons of storage space.
It's great in the snow, handles well in rough driving conditions and I am always the first up to the ski slopes.
I drove a few other cars, like the toyota 4runner and there was no comparison. More power, more space, more comfortable seats, more and better options."...

Get used to seeing the Check Engine light!
Source: Cars.com

..."This has been a fine vehicle except for one major flaw, which is a recurrent P1446 engine code that is caused by a stuck valve in the evaporative emissions system.
My dealer has tried multiple times to fix the issue. There is a now a Service Bulletin on the subject, but Nissan won't pay to fix my Pathfinder; the dealer wants $750...

Why should I also consider these?

The Pathfinder's design is already several years old, but it feels thoroughly modern next to the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, which mates dated styling with a cramped interior and subpar performance.

The Ford Explorer has a nicely updated, comfortable interior with more standard safety features across the line, but it doesn't possess the sturdy off-road ability of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder.

The Toyota 4Runner is another possibility, with plenty of off-road ability, though it has a noisier interior and a harder ride and can get quite expensive at the top of the line.

An alternative might be the Dodge Durango, which offers a slightly larger package overall, though the Durango doesn't handle the road especially well.

Each of these vehicles has poor fuel economy and a less-than-ideal ride, and most shoppers--if they don't need to tow frequently--would be better suited with a modern crossover design from these automakers, such as the GMC Acadia, Dodge Journey, Ford Edge, or Toyota Highlander.

2008 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
You should only consider the 2008 Chevrolet TrailBlazer if you frequently tow; even then, most truck-based alternatives handle much better.

2008 Dodge Durango
If you plan to tow, a 2008 Dodge Durango with a V-8 will work nearly as well as a Tahoe or Expedition, at a lower price.

2008 Ford Explorer
As the perennial best-selling truck-based SUV, the Ford Explorer is still the one to beat.

2008 Toyota 4Runner
The 2008 Toyota 4Runner isn’t as roomy or as efficient as newer crossover designs, but if you need towing or off-road capabilities, it’s a good, safe choice.
