Top Gear ReviewSource: MSN Autos...Styling on the interior is a little bland, but the SatNav brightens it up a little. Stay away from Mitsubishi Service departments, they have never heard of the word Customer. i.e. Arapahoe Mitsubishi. In gneral, it just feels so much better than a Subaru, and wonce you do a little work (Rims) in looks much better. Overall: Very Slow off the line, so dont try to drag race anyone above a Bicycle. But highway acceleraion is really good. Engine Noise can be a bit bothersome, nothing major. Styling on the interior is a little bland, but the SatNav brightens it up a little. Stay away from... |

Great Car with lots of options.Source: MSN Autos...Tons of standard options. Rockford Fosgate system. Navigation and Sun/Sound Package are a must as the touch screen is great! The music server is awesome, automatically recording your CDs when you play them for playback later. Interior is roomy. Cons: Interior could be better quaility. Door and arm rest have cheap fabric on them which is soft but easily picks up lint and not easy to clean. Not quick "off the line" but if you are planning on racing you would probably go for the Ralliart or Evolution anyway. Overall: Great car. You won't be disappointed... |

Not an economy carSource: MSN Autos...Last time on Interstate I kept it well under 70 to see if mileage would improve. 22.5. No luck. No jack rabbit starts and trying to drive conservatively to get some decent mileage. Lots of tire noise at speed. Not sure if tires or the car itself. As others have noted the engine is whiny at speed. Be prepared to invest in seat covers, factory material is showing wear at two months. Overall: Can not recommend car. Fun to drive but this was bought as a second car, principally for economy. Lousy gas mileage for a four cylinder makes me regret purchase. Traded in a 1992 Cherokee with 4.0 liter 6... |

The base Jetta comes with a long list of standard features and stands out for its torquey five-cylinder engine, available electronic stability control, and rear side airbags.
The Impreza is another sporty sedan that might be considered; it isn't quite as fuel-efficient as the Civic or Sentra, but its torquey flat-four engine provides good performance, and it comes standard with all-wheel drive.
The Sentra is one of the cheapest models; although it starts at a price substantially higher than the 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer's, the base Sentra S comes a lot better equipped, with a six-speed manual, anti-lock brakes, and conveniences like steering-wheel controls, air conditioning, and keyless entry.
However, the Sentra's interior doesn't feel as inviting and sporty as the Lancer's.
The Honda Civic is also a bit more expensive, but it includes a much more refined, more rev-happy, and more fuel-efficient four-cylinder engine, along with an equally slick-shifting manual transmission.
Each of these rivals is considerably quieter and more refined inside than the Lancer.
