Great car overall
Source: Cars.com

...Oil changes are at 10,000 mile intervals, while a similar 1998 Honda is every 3,000 miles. The Mercedes is roughly 9-10 quarts of oil. The Honda is roughly 4.5 quarts. Three oil changes in a Honda total 13.5 quarts of oil. It all averages out the same. It's a give-and-take. So quit whining about repair bills. Buy your own parts, then have a trusted independent repair shop replace the part and save some money. Based on a similar engine and transmission platform, my 1999 C280 is still going 240,000 miles strong."...

..."This is the best car I have own. I don't have to fix something very month with the high miles.
This car get well over 200,000 miles and be ready for another 100,000 if you just keep the oil change. It is made to last a long time if you take care of it. I plan to buy another one soon!"...

BEAUTIFUL THEN, AND BEAUTIFUL NOW!
Source: Cars.com

...Even though we dont drive it as much as our other cars we've had it for over 10 years and expect to have it for another 10. That car is what made us realize just how well German cars are made and built to last, i can guarantee any nissan or toyota would not last as long as this car. the only major problems we've ever had were the alternator and the ignition needed replacement. other than that NOTHING! this car led my family to buy a 2003 e320(used which is another German masterpiece , and a 2002 c230 kompressor sport coupe which is an amazing car with incredible pick up, i beleive all these...

MOst amazing car i have owned
Source: Cars.com

..."I have owned this car for 10 years and it is just amazing.
It just will not die it just keeps running and driving like a brand new car.
i have put a solid 211,000 mile on the car and it still has some more to go I will still keep driving this car until it completely dies on me.
This car is a very powerful piece of machine it alway has the extra power that I want when i want it, it will put you back into your seat once you hit the pedal to the metal.
Over all this car was a joy to own and i am planning to buy another one.
All i have to say is that once you have the...

Two major issues to check before you buy
Source: Cars.com

..."First well known issue is the original engine wire harness that degrades due to biodegradable rubber.
Any Mercedes mechanic can determine if yours is original and should be replaced.
Part cost is $1,000 and labor cost is $300. (sometimes the throttle acuator cables need replaced at the same time for another $300)...

Most unreliable Car I've ever owned
Source: Cars.com

..."My Mercedes-Benz E300-TD drove beautifully, was very comfortable, and cost me a fortune in repairs.
I loved the car when nothing was wrong with it, but then again there always seemed to be something that required taking it to a mechanic.
I've never owned a car that had as many mechanical problems as this car had."...

Why should I also consider these?

The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class lineup shares close quarters with its German compadres.

The Audi A6 lineup was refreshed for 2009 with direct-injection engines and a new front end, but it's halfway through its life cycle.

Wagon and all-wheel-drive versions are offered-similar to the BMW 5-Series lineup, which also includes the terrifyingly fast M5 sedan to tackle the Audi S6 and the Benz AMG editions.

Infiniti's M sedan is a suave counterpart from Japan, with a choice of six- and eight-cylinder engines, and rear- or all-wheel drive.

The shocking final option? The 2009 Hyundai Genesis, which has a high-$30,000 price tag, a fantastic interior, rear-drive power delivery, and a nearly 400-horsepower V-8.

Once Hyundai adds paddle shifters, sport suspension tuning, and body effects, it'll no doubt win more converts.

2008 BMW 5-Series
The 5-Series sedans and wagons aren't the most practical or the best values in their class, but they're very enjoyable to drive.

2008 Audi A6
The 2008 Audi A6 has plenty of competition, but its graceful look and feel set it apart from more brutal German and more clinical Japanese iron.

2009 Jaguar XF
The 2009 Jaguar XF is an easy car to love. It performs as well as anything in the class--and has unexpected glamorous touches that will win over converts.

2010 Hyundai Genesis
The 2010 Hyundai Genesis is a power play for luxury credibility-and it's just about the equal of mid-size luxury rivals from Lexus and Infiniti.
