Topless cruising!

...Pros: What a blast to drive! Great gas mileage, M Edition extras set it apart from the rest, absolutely NO trouble with it all!
Cons: Road noise, rear plastic window - I'll be replacing it with a glass one. Overall: Fantastic car!...

2001 Mazda Miata Automatic Transmission
Source: Cars.com

...The auto transmission shifts smoothly but lacks mid range power. The handling is incredible. It is like driving a racing go-kart. The air conditioner is very good after initial 3-mile cool down. Make sure that the ECM has been upgraded before purchasing a 2001 or 2002 model. The upgrade will cost you $1000+. Routine maintenance items such as tires, brakes, sensors, and filters are very cheap for miatas. I would also recommend using non-ethanol gas. The ethanol will corrode the fuel line inside the fuel tank. I found this out with my car. Two hours of labor and $150 worth of parts to fix."...

A surprise for 2001 Miata owners
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: It meets the needs of true roadster enthusiasts expectations with all the modern technology.
It is truely fun to drive. Cons: Accelaration was somewhat disappointing for a 15 horsepower boost.
Then I discovered through an autoweek review that there is a net gain of only 2 horsepower over the 2000 year model.
According to the article, Mazda will take steps to "patch up the offended owners" but it is somewhat disappointing to hear it from someone other than Mazda.
I assume they will contact owners at some point. Overall: Well pleased with exception of being...

Most Fun for the Money
Source: MSN Autos

...There has been a couple of recalls on this vehicle, but otherwise has proven to be very reliable. The leather seat bolsters wear quickly - Mazda is aware of this problem, but won't pay to have it fixed once the car is out of warranty. Seat belts have been problematic - often won't release and keep tightening around your neck. Overall: I bought this vehicle new in 2001 as a fun car. It has recently been pressed into daily commuter service and has proven reliable. It would not be my first choice as a commuter vehicle in heavy traffic areas due to its six -speed manual transmission and lack of...

2001 LS....
Source: Edmunds

...Overall this car has been what I expected. Lots of fun to drive.
Not alot of money. Not too hard on the gas. A few problems: My clutch has deteriorated immensly.
Shudders and stutters on Moderate effort starts in first few miles.
Worse on wet or humid days, going to persue warranty.
Some of door trim has come loose. Safety catch on roof latch stopped catching after 6 months(roof still stays closed but could accidently release).
Factory tires lasted 25,000 miles (Bridgstone Turanzas). Seats are too soft in the lumbar area. Emergency Brake handle is a serious knee space...

2001 Mazda Miata

...Pros: Better perfomance than previous models. Very easy to shift gears. Cockpit more sportier. Cons: Trunk space is small. Overall: An excellent car, fun to drive, the best miata ever!...

Mini Jag XKE ZOOM ZOOM
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: The handling and open-air top down experience is first class.
Looks more like a mini Jaguar XKE than the early model's Lotus Elan, thus an instant classic look, but with all the modern conveiences in a trouble free roadster.
Cons: The tight interior is prevalent with the top up, but drop the top and a whole new world opens up.
Overall: The best bang for the buck in a bullet proof modern day classic roadster. Drop the top and wind it up ! ZOOM ! ZOOM !...

2001 Mazda MX5 LS
Source: Edmunds

...One of the best, if not the best, cars I have ever owned.
Bought in California and driven home to Texas and averaged over 30 MPG at an average speed of about 95 MPH.
Most fun of any vehicle I ever drove and is more reliable than any I have owned which have included several sports cars.
The only drawback to certain 2001 MX5s is a very slight clutch shudder when first driven on certain mornings.
This is no real problem because it disappears after a couple of starts.
I have tangled with BMW Z3s, among others, and blew them off in both high speed acceleration and...
