...Cons: Your getting the last year of the old Mazda 6 but the price and options make it worth it.If you want these options with the new Mazda 6 your going to pay 6000 more on a first model year car that hasn't been tested, tough choice. Overall: I looked at both the 2008 and 2009 Mazda 6 and I liked the looks of the old Mazda 6 better, more sporty looking. The new Mazda 6 is bigger which your now competing with the Accord,Camry, and Altima, tough company.I feel the new Mazda 6 has lost its zoom zoom identity trying to compete in the mid-size market by looking to much like the big three. In this case...

...Very peppy ride. It handles very well in all weather conditions.
I am a very aggressive driver, and this car handles everything I put it through. It is a very reliable car. I have put over 66,000 miles on it, and have not had a major issues...

...The 2003 Mazda6 S is a fun to drive stylish vehicle.
It has plenty of power and is very fun to drive. I bought the S trim with the v6 engine and The interior is practical and well designed.
It does have some reliability issues, but most owners should not have problems with it.
It delivers a smooth ride. The factory sound system is lacking unless you upgrade to the bose package.
I would recommend this car for those who want a sporty looking car that is roomy and comfortable. Mddy0 Mazda6...

2009 Mazda 6 S Touring V6

...Replaced a 2005 Taurus, looking for a car with updated design, performance, and technology.
Definitely found the great design, performance and nice bells and whistles.
Respectable gas mileage, 22 city, 27 highway. Somewhat disappointed in overall comfort and noise issues.
High level of road noise from 18" tires, very sensitive steering, stiff ride, and noisy engine and compressor/fans (very annoying).
Unfavorable reflection of top of dash in front window.
Engine/fan noise addressed once, but not convinced it is entirely corrected. Will pursue with dealership and will...

Brought the First 2009 Mazda 6
Source: Edmunds

...I just got the new 2009 Mazda 6 yesterday. it was the first one brought in the whole New York.
I got the S Grand Touring, the V6 one. It's a beautiful car.
I was about to get the Nissan Altima, but after hours, hours of research, I decided to wait for the Mazda 6, and it was definitely worth the wait and all the time I put into researching cars.
I have test driven Accords, Altimas, Camrys, Acuras, and none of them drive better then the 2009 Mazda 6.
besides the driving, the car is beautiful from outside to inside.
Everyone that is looking for a new car should...

...The Mazda6 is a nice car and a nice ride but I had problems with it.
The gas tank has been replaced because it was making a strange noise, the lumber adjust broke, the weather strip on the windows have been replaced.
I've spend alot ot time at the dealership and I only have 5K miles. Not sure if I would buy Mazda again...

...The interior is solid but is not as refined as the toyota or honda in this year of 2006. Although you are paying much more for those models. I have had no problems at all with this car in any way and better yet got 33 mpgs carrying two adults, full luggage and going through the mountains of virginia with the ac on 3/4 for the entire trip of 260 miles... You cant beat that. For city driving i usually get around 28c my shiftin Cons: interior not as refined as honda or toyota but more sporty Overall: breaking in a car is very important and continuing with consistent shift points results in...

...Pros: Everything about this car is an improvement over past models,
had the car for 2 months and very pleased, had a 2002 626 and liked that car as well the acceleration on it was my only issue and this car resolved it,
sporty and very eye catchingexterior Cons: I am not looking forward to having to pay for those new tires in 5-6 years as 18 inch low profile won't be cheap,
would like some more compartments to put stuff (phone, change ect) Overall: Very pleased and look forward to driving this for the next 10 years...

Why should I also consider these?

Looking at these competitors, there's not a bad choice here.

Compared to the 2009 Mazda6, the Toyota Camry rides more softly.

It is the "Buick" of this group.

The Honda Accord and Nissan Altima are close to the Mazda6 dynamically, but the Mazda is sportier still than the Accord (especially inside), and you must like continuously variable transmissions (CVTs) to fall in love with the Altima.

Hyundai's Sonata is a solid choice backed by a long warranty, while the Chevrolet Malibu continues to win over buyers with its styling and technology (Chevy offers a Hybrid model and a six-speed automatic with their four-cylinder).

2009 Toyota Camry
The 2009 Toyota Camry remains one of the best choices for those looking for a reliable and roomy—albeit plainly dressed—family sedan.

2008 Nissan Altima
The 2008 Nissan Altima is a little sportier, though not less sensible.
