Not user friendly for mutliple car seats
Source: Edmunds

...I leased the car on a comparison review of the Highlander, the Pilot and the CX- 9.
There are only 2 baby clips available in the 2nd seat.
You can not put a baby seat in the middle (it folds down).
I put my 1st baby seat on the smallest section and then could not fold down the larger section to get into the 3rd seat.
(I needed to place 3 car seats in the car) In the comparison they did point out the negative about the rear passenger doors being longer and more difficult to open it tight situations.
I have found that it is more difficult in most situations. The road...

2008 CX-9 GT AWD ++++

...The vehicle's design is superb. The driver's seat is the best, you have all the buttons strategically located. Great bang for your bucks...

The CX-9 is a Great Ride
Source: Edmunds

...Bought my CX-9 this week. Did extensive search looking at the Acura MDX, Toyota Highlander, Volvo XC90, Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot, Toyota Sienna.
Reasons I picked the CX-9: 1) Good access to third row.
Second row seats can slide forward, so you can access the third row without having to move a car seat.
2) Comparable to 2008 Accura MDX in features but costs a lot less, MDX more difficult to get to the third row and dash is very cluttered with different knobs.
3) Comparable to the 2008 Highlander but a better ride.
Highlander still has a trucky feel. 4) Decided...

Love it
Source: Edmunds

...Been driving this car for one year and love it. Great handling and feels like a sports car.
Agree with some issues, like needing auto door locks and better mileage; but the NAV sys is great, you just have to be sure its set where you live.
Have driven big SUVs before and will never go back.
Don't use the third seat, but use the significant cargo space for 4 big dogs.
Plenty of room and very reliable. Great sound system, cool keyless entry, and useful, easy to reach controls. Highly recommend the CX9!...

Overall Great Car
Source: Edmunds

...Owner for 2 years. Overall very satisfied with this vehicle.
Great acceleration and smooth ride. After driving it 1000 miles in 1.5 days, I was surprised that my back didn't hurt.
I am very pleased with this car's performance, but can't say the same for the dealership's service.
Love the Bluetooth and Nav system. Average hwy mileage at 75mph is 25.
In town mileage could be better. Loads of cargo room.
Down fall is that no daytime running lights and if you turn headlights on during the day, I can't see the speedometer very well even with my prescription sunglasses...

2008 Mazda CX-9

...Even though I'm not a professional reviewer, I see the CX-9 as a step closer to versatility in a vehicle. Love to drive it and is in the top 4 most powerful engines in or around its class...

Mazda is Shirking
Source: Edmunds

...I love driving our Mazda CX-9. Mazda does not support the navigation system we got.
It is an old disk and they will not send us a new one -- don't have one.
They advertised the ability to add an iPod jack, so you could control it from the radio, when we got it.
They have finally withdrawn the offer. Unfortunately, we complained because that add on is one we really wanted.
I love my Mazda for driving, but the extras that make it a great car is the company. The company is lousy. Grand Touring, don't buy...

The best priced SUV.
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: I love my CX-9. The styling and handling stand outs.
Nice horsepower. Hard to believe it is an SUV. Then again, it is zoom-zoom and like all mazda, you get more than you pay for.
Cons: The fuel economy is not nice (like all SUVs). Any hybrid CX-9 coming soon? Overall: An excellent buy...

Excellent overall
Source: Edmunds

...I have been shopping for family car for a long time.
I test drove many cars such as Honda Pilot, Odyessy, Toyota Highlander, Toyota Sienna, GMC Acadia, and Hyundai Veracruz.
I was going to get Honda Odyessy since it is very affordable and looks good, but I did not like how it drove.
However, after I drove Mazda CX9, it was love at first sight. I love how it drives. Exterior and interior looks great. They did great design overall. Ride is firm and roomy for 7 adults...

Very happy, so far!
Source: Edmunds

...I love the exterior and interior styling of this CUV.
Performance is really good for such a large vehicle.
Acceleration, steering, and braking are all the same or better than my wife's coupe.
We took the cx-9 on a 1000 mile trip this summer. We averaged over 22 mpg and this was with 5 people, luggage, and driving through mountains.
Not bad for a CUV! We also test drove the new Honda Pilot and GMC Acadia and the Mazda was our favorite. I highly recommend this vehicle...

Why should I also consider these?

Beyond the 2008 Mazda CX-9, the range of available crossovers staggers the mind.

If size matters most to you, then consider any of the large crossovers from General Motors--they're the biggest.

But don't do so before driving the Mazda CX-9, which may reveal that size doesn't matter that much.

Style and price range remain big variables, so take the time to see and drive the Mazda in person.

Only then decide whether the CX-9's low $30,000 price is spot-on for you.

After a test drive, you may decide the 2008 Mazda CX-9 is really a less expensive alternative to an Acura MDX or BMW X5.
