Lovin' my 400h in Colorado
Source: Cars.com

..."I bought my all wheel drive 400h used with about 36,000 miles on it.
I LOVE it! Great acceleration, great power, with my 75 mile mixed route of highway, city and side roads I get about 29.1 mpg. I traded my 2 wheel drive 04' Cadillac SRX...

least reliable car ever owned
Source: Cars.com

..."Our Lexus Rx400h is on the frequent towing program, has stopped dead in the middle of a freeway, frequently does not start, and has had the standard battery replaced several times.
Fortunately we kept an older much less expensive car for the kids so we have a backup vehicle on those many days when the Lexus Rx400h doesn't start.
When the car does run, it is a comfortable, quiet ride with good handling."...

compare two RX400H
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: This is my second RX400H (2006) now 2008. Have been getting above 25mpg and as high as 27.5 av.
around town for tank. Goal was 400 miles on tank and have reached the goal several times.
Preformance all around very very good. A lot of tweeked features in 2008.
Cons: Can not think of any. 2008 car, 2006 had a qwerk between 40 and 45 mph slight jerking the dealer could not get out and they were not cooperative on solving the problem.
they said the computer coud not make up it's mind to stay w/elec or go to engine. The 2008 does not have this problem. Overall: Excellent...

2008 Lexus Rx 400h

...I absolutley love this car. It is up to date with all technology.
Rides beautifly and looks great. It could be a little faster and that 270 hp v6 is a little sluggish. Overall I rate the car 5 out of 5...

Wow what a car
Source: Cars.com

..."From 1984 until 2008 I have always owned Honda's so when it came time to buy my next car I was sold on the Acura MDX - until I drove the Lexus 400h at my husbands request.
The car was so quiet and so smooth. The fit and finish were flawless.
The handling superb. It does not have the sports car feel of the MDX but it will save you on money on gas without scrimping on luxury and reliability...

Reliable but the buy a self-battery jumper because the starter battery will die on you
Source: Edmunds

...I bought this used and the hybrid system was not explained to me at the dealership.
I had to go to another dealership which took the time to explain the hybrid system to me.
(I stayed a customer at that dealership) The starter battery dies in cold weather on a regular basis and also will die if the vehicle has not been driven for a week or so.
Do yourself a favor and purchase a chargeable self-battery jumper, which will save you a lot of time waiting for AAA.
I bought the hybrid to get better fuel economy. I haven't seen the fuel economy of the Rx400h go above 26. The...

Counting on it for the long haul
Source: Cars.com

..."I was able to find a 2 year old car with only 14000 miles.
The mpg is fair for a hybrid but good for an SUV - Around 28-30.
There are nice and over the top amenities (Nice - precipation sensitive wipers, Over the top - wipers for the head lights).
Overall not much more comfortable than my previous Saturn SUV - also with heated leather seats and moon roof.
I am hoping that I am am going to get my money back with the extended certified pre-owned warranty and legendary Lexus reliabilty."...

RX 400h Hybrid is the best for me
Source: Cars.com

..."For many years, I considered buying a more expensive car and could not decide on the brand.
In 2006, my family bought a RX400h Lexus hybrid and then bought several more with the last one being a 2008 RX 400h Hybrid.
What a wonderful car...in all features to be considered plus good mpg. I feel safe, comfortable, proud, etc, etc. I want to buy a RX 450h next."...

Why should I also consider these?

The Highlander Hybrid is closely related mechanically to the 2008 Lexus RX 400h; it has a boxier body style that makes its interior a bit roomier, though it's not as plush, as comfortable, or as quiet as the RX.

There are now several other hybrid sport-utility models to choose from.

The Mercury Mariner Hybrid and its mechanically identical sibling, the Ford Escape Hybrid, also have a full-hybrid system and get impressive fuel economy of up to 34 mpg city, 30 mpg highway.

That's significantly better than the RX 400h and Highlander, but they're notably smaller; they also lack the luxury comforts and high-tech features of the RX 400h.

The Saturn Vue Hybrid is a "mild" hybrid, meaning that the electric motor system only assists the engine to help improve fuel economy, but it gets 25 mpg city, 32 mpg highway.

If some measure of towing or off-roading is in order, you might also consider the M-Class diesel, which has tremendous torque and overall performance that matches the V-6 version of the M-Class, but with a rating of 24 mpg highway.

2009 Mercury Mariner
The 2009 Mercury Mariner is an attractive and capable compact SUV, now with vastly improved performance.

2009 Saturn VUE
With its available V-6 engine, the 2009 Saturn Vue is a bit more fun to drive than other compact SUVs; otherwise it’s not a standout.

2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
The 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid offers the same room and amenities that the nonhybrid Highlander does, only with better fuel economy and the badge of honor that comes with driving something that's trying to be green.
