An amazing vehicle

...Pros: Beautiful well made auto. Rides and handles like a dream.
Mileage is very good considering you have a real powerhouse under the hood.
Cons: Expensive scheduled maint at dealer. 15000 mile scheduled maint costs over 450.00.
dealer labor is 105.00 per hour. Perceived dealer service attitude is "if you can afford this car, you should be able to afford these maint prices"!! Overall: A real pleasure to drive this car...

...My favorite thing has to be the front and back heated and air conditioned seats. The leg room in the L version is super. The controls are easy to find and use. The acceleration is more like a little sports car, except is is comfortable and not jerky. Cons: The handsfree phone doesn't verbally announce the name of the caller when receiving a call from someone in your phonebook. I had an aftermarket Motorola system that had the feature and found it helpful. I am trying very hard to avoid speeding tickets. If you don't watch your speed, it is easy to be surprised at how fast you are going...

...I haven't used the parking assisst as there are no parrallel spots in the great state of Texas. I think the ride of the LS 460 (with sport package)is comparable to the S-550 but with at least 30 to 40 grand cheaper and much higher retained value and better reliability. I absolutely hate it when high-end cars have problems because, guess what, their repairs are horrendous. This is something MB and BMW are quite notorious about. For me, it was a no brainer and when my friends (who owned other high-end cars) test drove mine, they where quite surprised of the power and luxury of this vehicle and...

One think I though was a gimmick was the heated steering wheel but being in Chicago it is great on those really cold days.Fault in my opinion; it needs snow tires, not just all season tires.
The sensors for tire pressure from what my mechanic told me has to be re-programed if you buy a set of rims and tires for winter. Or you drive for 3-4 months with a light on the dash...

There is no sedan in this catogory that match this 460L in terms of options incorperated as well as the above criterior and its price tag , It simply made in the persue of perfection.
Cons: None Overall: This is the car of the future ought to be made.
Lexus family of cars have spearhead just that it is no wonder the brand is growing more popular by the day across the globe , heads turn round when ever "lexus" sedan models pass by.
There is no doubt it has surpassed other traditional luxury models...

Wind noise unacceptable, comfort disapp

...I owned a 2002 LS430. This car is not as comfortable and the wind noise is totally unacceptable.
The dealer has installed the factory recommended fix, but my wife does not like to ride in the car because the wind noise is so bad.
The LS430 was so comfortable and quiet that I made the mistake of not road testing the LS460 extensively.
My assumption was that it would be improved. That was a BIG mistake.
In contrast to the LS430, the LS460's seats are very uncomfortable after a couple of hours on the road.
If the factory does not come up with a fix for the wind noise...

Why should I also consider these?

The LS 460 is significantly cheaper than the 7-Series or S-Class.

All-wheel drive is available in the S-Class and comes standard in the A8 but is not available in either the 7-Series or LS 460.

The LS 460 has a straightforward instrument panel layout, without the use of a centralized, screen-driven interface like BMW's iDrive, which some drivers will appreciate.

Each of these competitors has distinct designs inside (and outside) that arguably feel more lavish than the LS 460's simpler, more conservative style.

Additionally, each rival offers high-performance variants, including the S8, the Alpina B7, and the S63 and S63 AMG, which the LS does not have.

And instead of a V-12 flagship, as these three European sedans have, the LS has a gasoline-electric flagship called the LS 600h L.
