Comfortable on road, not for hardcore offroading
Source: Cars.com

...Around 10+ of these have had damaged radiator/condenser units after being driven offroad because of sudden jumps. Even the Overland model has had bad luck here. Thru insurance i got my radiator replaced, but weeks later overheating problems occured for which Jeep/Chrysler could not figure out why - so they changed the whole engine under warranty! Still didnt fix the issue! Later found that the coolant compartment was leaking! Apparently after replacing the engine, the service center technicians did not fix the coolant hoses correctly, as a result of which my engine temperature gauge would...

Smoooth 4x4
Source: Cars.com

..."I have owned or driven many 4x4s and found the new
Grand Cherokee to be the best riding of the bunch.I
bought the Overland trim and think it is just gorgeous
with plenty of room for all and enough trinkets for
fun.The Hemi powerplant is great but not the gas mileage( I do have a heavy right foot ).Now with only 2100 miles in six months I can only hope its reliablity still impresses me down the road."...

Most bang for the buck.

..."Ther are many cars to choose from that equal or surpass the Grand Cherokee in some areas,
but, when you factor in the serious 4 wheel drive capabilities and the Hemi performance and towing capabilities it wins hands down."...

Exceptional Vehicle
Source: CarGurus

...Performance is exceptional, feels like a German car.
Considered a dream car for some, it is a head turner, esp when you hardly see any still out there.
So quiet, I now listen to the radio at volume 8 when the windows are closed!
Because it's so smooth, I drive like a grandpa now but it's getting me 17 ave on local and 24 on hwy!
I love this car. Oh, just had an oil change that I thought would be a wallet buster, but it cost $19.87 at the dealership with one of their coupons! Awesome...

IT BROKE DOWN WHILE I WAS TESTDRIVING A VEHICLE TODAY!!! *SIGH*...

One Month Old
Source: Edmunds

...So far no problems. The V8 has lots fo power and tourque. Interior in comfortable, no issues. Having traded in my Lexus ES 350 for this vehicle, I miss a few minor things. The NAV doesn't automatically change from day to night lighting and it takes three steps on the menu to change it. A bit of a pain and at night it's definately too bright. Also, the keyless unlock often taken a few seconds to unblock. My Lexus unlocked any door instantly. On the Jeep it onlu unlocked the driver door and I usually havew to hold my hand their for 3 seconds or so before it unlock...

Why should I also consider these?

The new Grand Cherokee still calls itself an SUV, while seven-seat “crossovers” rule the sales charts today.

Of those vehicles, the Cherokee’s most like the VW Touareg in interior room and off-roadability.

The Touareg can be frighteningly expensive, though.

The Cherokee’s far more attractive than the blocky Honda Pilot, but it’s not quite as distinctive as the boutique-shopper’s choice, the rather exclusive Land Rover LR4.

The Chevrolet Traverse equals the Cherokee in drivetrain refinement, but it’s much more comfortable toting tots than crossing anything more challenging than a four-way intersection.

The wild card here: Ford’s 2011 Explorer, which ditches body-on-frame design for crossover appeal and better fuel economy.

2011 Chevrolet Traverse
The 2011 Chevrolet Traverse isn’t fun to drive, but it’s one of the best large crossover wagons for transporting the family comfortably and safely.

2011 Ford Explorer
The 2011 Ford Explorer a formidable shot right at the heart of the crossover market--one that's sure to pull some of the remaining SUV loyalists off their very high horses.

2011 Honda Pilot
If you can get past the garish grille and overwrought look, the 2011 Honda Pilot is a fine family vehicle, with minivan-like interior space and decent performance.

2011 Land Rover LR4
The 2011 Land Rover LR4 takes on tough terrain with ease, and it's become more adept at imparting a carlike driving feel.

2011 Volkswagen Touareg
The 2011 Volkswagen Touareg has dropped some of its ruggedness in favor of the comfort suburban families want—but it's still not quite a rival to luxury-brand utes.
