Major DisappointmentSource: Cars.com...Jags are known for poor reliability and mine is no exception. I bought a 2 year old certified used car still under factory warranty. Within the first 9 months I had put nearly $1000 into it and still hadn't addressed all of the problems. Before I can fix everything something new crops up (currently I have a loud squeaking noise at high speeds). Someone said it was comfortable for long rides. Well, I am 6', 200 pounds and I find it uncomfortably cramped. I have driven it from NY to the midwest and lets just say I am renting a luxury car the next time I make the trip. One consumer company (I... |

Near PerfectionSource: MSN Autos...It is extremely comfortable. My husband and I have taken numerous road trips across the country. This car did not leave us feeling exhausted like our others (GM) cars did. It handles exceptionally well, my husband much prefers to be in my Jaguar X-Type in adverse weather than his vehicle. We feel much safer in it. It handles very well in ice and on slick roads. Cons: There is only one cup holder in the 2003 model. The visors need to have extenders on them. Overall: I only plan on owning Jaguars from now on. I can't imagine going to any other brand. My husband complains... |

Jaguar X-TypeSource: Edmunds...It was love at first sight, but having never driven owned or driven a Jaguar, I was trepidatious to say the least. How misplaced those reservations were. This is a beautiful car to drive. Its power is exceptional, luxury finishing is good and the AWD is truly brilliant. On the day I bought it, I had to travel a distance of more than 1400km. I had a tyre burst doing 160kph trying to get my destination (I know its speeding, but the road was long and empty and therefore irresistable.) The Jaguar did not deviate an inch. I slowed down, assessed the damage, put on the spare and was away... |

2002 Jaguar x typeSource: MSN Autos...I do regular maintenance and ask the mechanic to check it out and let me know what needs done, so I can do it as it needs it. I purchase any filters, etc at Jaguar and take them to my mechanic since Jaguar dealers are over an hour away from me. I would recommend this car to anyone! Plus it looks very elegant! Cons: The only thing that is a drawback is not being able to lock the doors by hand or when the car is running. It is nice that you can't lock the keys in but when I dropped my car off for service I said just lock the keys in it, well you can't do that. Then when we got snow, I wanted to... |

STAY AWAY FROM JAGUAR X-TYPE 3.0 AWDSource: MSN Autos...Within the first six months of ownership I had to have the drive shaft replaced, new seat motors and seat tracks as well as the J gate relay (kept clicking). Soon afterthat my passenger door actuator failed, driver window fell off track and sunroof motor failed also. After having that fixed I had a DSC system fault code and ABS light came on. Found out it was my wheel speed sensor and harness. Now just took it to dealership for slipping tranny and found out my 3rd and 4th gears failed and need new tranny along with a leaking oil pan gasket. This car is killing me I haven't got a good six... |

European brands all offer wagons in this market niche, and save for the new Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen, they provide four-wheel-drive versions of their wagons, as well as V-6 power.
The Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen is considerably cheaper than the others in this group, but it also brings a diesel engine option to the party for the 2009 model year.
