Hyundai hits a 'homer'
Source: MSN Autos

...The warranty is outstanding; the company obviously is quite confident of the quality of its product. Great warranty on the hybrid battery. Was glad to discover the tilt/telescoping steering wheel, heated rear seats, trunk size, and extra cabin storage areas for sunglasses, tissues, etc. Cons: We honestly do not dislike anything about this vehicle. I did a lot of research on hybrids and models, so we knew what to expect and what to choose. I'm having to adjust from a powerful 6 cyl. Maxima to the hybrid, in terms of power and pickup, but I knew that ahead of time. Overall: Great vehicle!! Has...

Hybrid Sonata

...I wanted to wait a few months to rate this car and have driven it for 3 months now so still early but here are my findings.
Hyundai quoted 35 city and 45 hwy mpg. I haven't done any extensive hwy driving but city is about 25 mpg.
I assume that is less than if I bought the standard gas model.
I live in the desert of So Cal and since owning this car, I have run the A/C nearly all the time I have driven it.
I have noted a better MPG when not using the A/C. There are some quirks, like at a stop light, if the engine kick on to charge the battery while the A/C is on, there is a...

...UM; YEAH; I have a Brand new 2011 Sonata and I also bought one for my Daughter.
We both are very happy with our cars and yeah, it doesn't take a genius to know that you shouldn't drive down the road with no hands.
It's people on this website that give a beautiful car like mine a bad name...

...Pros: APPEARANCE, HANDLING, POWER, (GREAT FOR A 4 BANGER), STANDARD FEATURES, GAS MILEAGE, PRICE.
Cons: NOTHING. SEATING LEATHER COULD BE SOFTER AND PASSENGER SEAT COULD BE HIGHER, OTHERWISE, WHAT,S NOT TO LIKE.. Overall: OWNED SINCE MAY 2010. LOVE IT...

Snow no go!
Source: Edmunds

...I purchased a used low miles 2011 Sonata last fall and loved it, awesome gas mileage, up to 40 hwy.
inside great, outside great! Winter came late and I discovered it does not get around in snow at all!
I've never had to worry about getting around in snow and I live in a state that normally gets a lot of snow.
Had trouble navigating in even 3 inches of snow! Car dealer said they are built light which is why mileage is so good.
Got stuck 3 times in a 7 min. commute from work to home.
Next day traded it in for an AWD Subaru - I didn't even hesitate to get rid of it...

What doesn't it do well?
Source: Edmunds

...even a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8...all in the last 4 years. But when the Sonata 2.0T came out, I had to try it. "Impressed" doesn't begin to describe my reaction to this car! For performance it has 274hp on 87 octane. For being green, it gets better mileage than small cars with 1/2 the horsepower (the Mazda 3 comes to mind). For safety, only the BMW 550i is its equal. Styling is niche-appropriate without being me-too. Features for the money, long a Hyundai hallmark, shows up in spades (Bluetooth, XM, power everything, keyless ignition, etc). Looks like a 100,000 mile/ 10 year match made in...

Still love my Sonata
Source: Edmunds

...My Sonata Limited V6 has more than 30K and I love it - I have had literally zero problems with it.
I commute 30 miles each way through rainy and sometimes icy Pacific Northwest mountain passes and it is a champ.
Great acceleration when I need it, excellent mpg (30 mpg highway), handles very well and it can comfortably seat four large adults.
My wife and I took it on a 1,000-mile trip down Highway 1 in Washington and Oregon and it was a fun drive...

Why should I also consider these?

The Sonata's dramatic styling and three-pronged attack on the mid-size market have worked.

It's now one of the sales leaders and TCC's Best Car To Buy for 2011.

It still competes in a very tough segment with two of the best selling passenger cars, the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord.

The Accord remains very much a Honda in driving feel, even though it's quite a large vehicle now; the Camry's revamped this year for better economy, but the proto-Ford looks and spotty interior neither advance its case or cost it points.

Ford's Fusion and the Mazda6 share some DNA, and both are fun to drive, with excellent road manners making up some for slightly smaller rear-seat space; both have excellent reliability records as well, and the Fusion's Hybrid edition is a gas-mileage leader.

Then there's the Kia Optima: on the spec sheet it's almost identical to the Sonata, but its sleeker styling and slightly beefier handling make it an interesting direct competitor for the Sonata.

2012 Ford Fusion
The 2012 Ford Fusion stays at the top of its game, especially as a Hybrid, with perky handling and its cut-above looks.

2012 Honda Accord Sedan
Though the 2012 Honda Accord now has one of the more dated four-door sedan designs--and Bluetooth connectivity remains hard to get--its comfortable interior and perky, refined performance hit the sweet spot for families.

2012 Kia Optima
The basics don't have to be boring: the 2012 Kia Optima evades design and driving boredom with suave looks, good performance and great gas mileage and features.

2012 Mazda MAZDA6
The 2012 Mazda6 is just as comfortable, practical, and refined as most other mid-size sedans, but it's a little more enjoyable to drive.

2012 Toyota Camry
The redesigned 2012 Toyota Camry remains the most conservative-looking pick among mid-size sedans, but if you want comfort, value, and frugality above all else, it's probably just your style.
