Great Little CarSource: Cars.com...It is a terrific commuter car. Terrific space inside. LOVE the way the seats go flat and how you can haul so much stuff around. Great quality. Even the back seat has space for my long legs! My wife and I would trade in our 98 Honda Accord for a Fit except for one thing. I am 6'3" tall, and there is not enough room for my legs in the drivers seat. My son is 5'11" -- and I would say that is probably the tallest comfortable position for a driver. I know the Fit is being redesigned for 09 -- hope they do something about it. Other than that, we LOVE the car."... |

Update from "former camry owner"Source: Edmunds...a total of three "fit and finish" issues, all three being on the driver's side(maybe the result of a disgruntled, or "could care less" assembler on that side),e.g., small cover over speaker attached on one corner only, control switch panel "cover" on driver's door bowed slightly in middle, preventing a flush fit, and a 1/2 inch gap between plastic fits near console...None of these things are terribly important, but irritating. There isn't a single issue or problem on the passenger side. The car is still great fun to drive, and everything else about my previous review holds... |

Some Folks Just Don't UnderstandSource: Edmunds...we're both over 6', and we both needed a fun ride. I drove professionally for VW & Porsche in my college days while studying engineering, so I know my vehicles. If you want folks to smile when they see you, and enjoy comfort, reliability, and just plain fun while out get the convert. As a former QC puke, I can find no problems with finish nor performance. My straight laced bride goes nuts driving the car because it's so much fun. So 2 can't fit in the back, so what? So it doesn't have a huge trunk.. so what? It has everything that two old folks needed and more. Try it, you'll like it... |

The 2009 Honda Fit is priced significantly higher than most of its small-car competitors, but it feels much more substantial from behind the wheel, with a firm but well-controlled ride and better steering and handling than most inexpensive small vehicles.
The automatic transmission in the Fit has five speeds—one more than the competition—which helps bring good performance and fuel economy, along with relaxed highway cruising.
The Fit’s engine also lacks the fatigue-inducing boominess and coarseness at high-rev acceleration or higher cruising speeds that most of these rivals have.
Anti-lock brakes, which are standard on the Fit, are optional or not available on many of its competitors.
Among these competitors, all but the Rio5 have a softer ride than the Fit, but it doesn’t necessarily bring more ride comfort; the Rio5 handles quite well but isn’t as comfortable at high speeds, and the Versa rides and handles like a larger, heavier car, lacking the Fit’s nimble feel.
And none of these models match the Fit’s cargo or back-seat space.
The xD, with its taller body and boxier appearance, is perhaps the most direct competitor to the Fit, but the materials used inside the Scion feel cheaper and there’s not nearly as much cargo space or seating space in back.
