The Best! Right Sized SUV for These Times
Source: MSN Autos

...Our Denali's power and torque are excellent, I totally waxed a 1/2 ton Dodge Daytona "Hemi" pickup today, the look on that guys face was priceless. P.S. I have owned many toyota's ETC... and respect most of them, but this Denali is far better. Cons: Not one thing! Sad that GM is dropping this highly desirable and competitive platform. We would buy a 2010 GMC Envoy Denali instantly. Overall: The GMC Envoy Denali is a true pleasure to drive, in the city streets, the country roads, 4 wheeling or freeway lightspeed, we get better gas mileage then is published, have had no wind noise issues, and...

2002 vs 2009
Source: Cars.com

..."i had a 2002 envoy that i bought new back in 2001.
i liked it so much that i drove it for 10 years and 118,000 miles and then traded to a used 2009 envoy.
i had the 6 cylinder in both and think it is sufficiently powered.
also had the bose stereo in both. i think the exterior styling is still good and will put it up against anything being made now.
i think gmc could be still selling these if they had freshened things up a bit.
had very few problems with the first one and hoping that this one is as good. seems strange to me that i had the first year and the last year...

What is it?
Source: Cars.com

..."I have owned my 2004 GMC Envoy XUV SLT since July 2005.
I bought with 292 miles on it. It was purchased primarily
because of price but I have enjoyed all the features that came with this vehicle. The cargo area has came in handy several times and has saved me money on deliverys as well.
I love my heated leather seats and Bose stereo. So
far the only problems I have had were fixed under
the warranty.I know have 63000 miles and it is still in great shape.Overall if you need flexibility and dont require a third row seat the Envoy XUV is an option to look at."...

Good, but more could've been done from '02-'09
Source: Edmunds

...Used to have an '09 Envoy SLE 4 wheel drive, loved the car but due to financial reasons I traded this vehicle in for a more affordable, efficient vehicle.
The drive was smooth, Bose stereo was good, even a Hitch came standard although I never used it...

Like my Envoy
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: I went from a 2003 Trailblazer to the 2009 Envoy.
I would have liked another Trailblazer but none were available, so I tried the Envoy.
So far no problems, handles well, gas mileage a little better than the Trailblazer. Cons: Cant think of anything Overall: So far the Envoy is enjoyable. Will see how it handles this winter...

Suspension problems
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: Looks Cons: The worst suspension I have ever had on a Vehicle since 1967.
You almost want to throw up if you get on a wavy road.
Dealer is trying to find out the problem. Said the car is not normal.
It has 800 miles on it. You cannot look inside the dash glove box at night.
There is no light in the glove box and you cannot get one as an option.
Unbelievable? My 69 camaro has a light in the glove box. Should have more cup holders. Overall: Car gets 16 to 17 mpg. Runs good except for suspension...

Good Vehicle
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: Prior vehicle, 2005 Trailblazer LT, not much difference.
If I had to do it over again, I would choose the Trailblazer LT.
Road handling on the Envoy takes some getting used to. Other than that a good vehicle. Cons: Road handling, gas mileage. Overall: All in all, a good ride for the money...

Why should I also consider these?

GMC's own Acadia crossover, though more expensive, may be the best alternative to the Envoy if you're looking for a high-utility family vehicle; it's roomier and safer, and it performs better in just about every way.

The Envoy is part of a dying breed of formerly top-selling truck-based SUVs that are gradually being replaced by safer, smoother-riding car-based crossovers; among those, the Envoy is particularly trucklike in its ride and handling.

The Explorer, Pathfinder, and 4Runner especially all handle more securely, and their interiors have been kept better updated.

The Pathfinder and 4Runner also offer some measure of off-road ability.

Another possibility is the Kia Borrego, a truck-based SUV that is all-new this year, bucking the trend away from this type of vehicle.

Compared to most of its rivals, the Borrego has a far quieter, more refined cabin and an interior that feels genuinely up-to-date.

The 2009 GMC Envoy is closely related mechanically to the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, which is similarly priced but doesn't offer a model like the luxurious Denali; however, the TrailBlazer gets a sporty SS model with a 6.0-liter V-8 for those who want a musclecar-like experience.

2009 GMC Acadia
The 2009 GMC Acadia is better-looking than most minivans, and a whole lot more useful than full-size SUVs for passenger duty.

2009 Kia Borrego
The 2009 Kia Borrego isn’t the type of vehicle that’s especially popular or fashionable at this time, but it’s a home run against the competition.

2008 Ford Explorer
As the perennial best-selling truck-based SUV, the Ford Explorer is still the one to beat.

2008 Nissan Pathfinder
If you tow and off-road with the family, the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder is one of the better traditional truck-based SUVs available.

2008 Toyota 4Runner
The 2008 Toyota 4Runner isn’t as roomy or as efficient as newer crossover designs, but if you need towing or off-road capabilities, it’s a good, safe choice.
