My first Ford Car
Source: Cars.com

..."I have purchased several new Ford Trucks but have never cared for Ford cars.
This is the first. I was sold on the Fusion the first time I drove it.
I did a lot of research at the local garages and learned that there are vitually no issues with the car. It has awesome fuel economy and is very quiet."...

Ford is still the same poor quality
Source: Edmunds

...about it when i bought it new in June 09 but...At 6000 miles while taking my son to tour a college i was on an incline and the tranny slipped. When i returned home i took it to the dealer and they reprogrammed the tranny.Seemed fine for a while but started slipping again. At 19000 the dealership found a leak from the half shaft and burned out clutches. At 25500 miles the tranny had to be rebuilt when at 70mph it went out of gear while on vacation and would not engage.Had no power. When they hooked it to the computer there were no error codes even though the clutches burned out again.It's...

GREAT CAR
Source: Cars.com

..."i've had my 2007 fusion for 4months and i love it.
smooth ride with plenty of power. i get 21mpg. the ONLY thing i DONT LIKE is that not all trim levels have ABS!
and my SEL doesnt have ABS. ford has really stepped up their game.
i have had a honda civic, 01 chevy impala(hated tht car nothing but problems) and a 2002 Jaguar X-type and the only reason i ended up with the fusion is because the Jaguar was totaled.
u might think im crazy goin from a Jag to a fusion but i honestly like the fusion better!"...

Love My Fusion
Source: Cars.com

..."We purchased our Fusion SEL new. We did alot of comparissons and no one could beat the bang for the buck.
Our model is a fully loaded with the sports apperance package, which gets a ton of complements.
The sap gives is a different suspension which makes it really fun to drive.
It is very roomy inside and has a gigantic trunk. Love all of the features with a resonable new car price! The quality and reliabilty cannot be beat! The Fusion is a must see."...

Great Car - Love it!!
Source: Cars.com

...I made sure to check car fax and purchased an extended warranty for peace of mind. The Fusion is also a sharp looking car. We just came back from a 7 hour return road trip from Boston and it was very comfortable. The seats gave great support and made the long drive pleasurable. I have had the car 5 months so far and only paid for routine maintenance. I would recommend this car and would definitely buy another Fusion. The 2010 hybrid model will be my next used car, but I will wait a few years to see if receives a high rating and positive reviews."...

6SPD AUTO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS
Source: Edmunds

...Beware!!! A simple internet search will reveal tons of problems with the 6F35 auto trans in the 2010 Fusion and Escape.
My car is experiencing problems with frequent shift flaring, which will then be followed by a hard shift and forward jolt.
This jolt caused me to hit another car in front of me thus damaging my chrome grille.
The car will also shift into neutral by itself at times creating a dead spot in acceleration.
After software reprograms, new valve body, and complete overhaul including new clutches, my car now drives significantly worse.
The trans now struggles...

Ford Focus with one prior owner

..."The automobile is a pleasure to drive. Fit and finish are great. Comfort on longer trips is great. I am very pleased with the vehicle and recommend you buy one."...

First Impression
Source: CarGurus

...So far, the best observed mileage has been 32.84 MPG, but as of the end of the first year, it is up to 35.34. The overall average is 24.7. Worst observed has been 15.76 (the weather was -40). The ride is great, and road noise is minimal. Ford has done a great job at improving this car with this model year. The six-speed manual adds a great fun factor, and the car does not want for power. It handles wonderfully deep snow. The traction control allows the driver to control traction a little before it reacts to wheel/tire spin. The roll stability control corrects any skidding or sideways motion...

Why should I also consider these?

Optional all-wheel drive, SYNC, and Sirius Travel Link separate the nonhybrid Fusion from most of these competitors.

If you favor ride quality over everything else, pick the Camry.

But be aware of the quality of inside the Camry: Toyota has skimped on the quality and look of many interior bits and pieces, so it is no longer the nicest interior in the class.

The sportier personality of the Accord more closely mirrors the 2010 Fusion, but so does the all-new Mazda6, a perennial favorite of TheCarConnection.com, and the Mazda should be considered for those who appreciate more of a performance feel; the new version is considerably more refined without giving up its sporty edge.

Nissan's Altima is another good choice.

The excellent 2009 Chevrolet Malibu and Saturn Aura also face off against the 2010 Ford Fusion.

The Malibu is our pick of the two; it's larger and delivers premium exterior style, plus a rich-looking interior.

The Aura, Malibu, Camry, and Altima are also offered in hybrid versions, each with similar-sized four-cylinder engines, although not all hybrid systems are the same.

General Motors uses a mild-hybrid system in its Aura and Malibu hybrids—they can't start up from a traffic light on electric power alone.

Both are well equipped, handle nicely, and boast excellent quality.

Some may like the Malibu's all-new style and larger interior, but neither of these mild hybrids can match the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid in fuel economy.

The Fusion exceeds this pair by 13 mpg city and 3 mpg highway, although the step up in cost is less for the GM models.

The Toyota Camry and Nissan Altima are full hybrids that get better mileage than GM's mild hybrids but still trail the Fusion Hybrid.

The step up in cost from the GM mild hybrids to the full hybrids is significant (about $3,000 versus $1,500 for the GMs).

2009 Chevrolet Malibu
The 2009 Chevrolet Malibu is a top contender in its class in almost every way.

2008 Honda Accord Sedan
Whether you're looking for a comfy commuter in the $20,000 range or a luxurious, powerful $30,000 family sedan, the newly redesigned 2008 Honda Accord should be on your shortlist.

2009 Mazda MAZDA6
The 2009 Mazda6 could easily steal sales from the traditional class leaders if non-gearheads discover it.

2008 Nissan Altima
The 2008 Nissan Altima is a little sportier, though not less sensible.

2009 Toyota Camry
The 2009 Toyota Camry remains one of the best choices for those looking for a reliable and roomy—albeit plainly dressed—family sedan.
