Mechanical Disaster for GM
Source: Cars.com

..."Had to replaceTransmission after 55,000 miles (out of warranty) and later had to repair cracked block, head gasket, etc ($1500.00) at 90,000 miles...

3.4l waste of $$$$
Source: MSN Autos

...Cons: Bought new in 1999 and have replaced the rear light housings twice so far. in 2003 with 61,000 miles the intake manifold gasket and the tranny failed $2,800 US. Dec. 1st 2005 81,000 miles the intake manifold gasket (again)and the head gasket failed also $1,900 Us. The dealers shop manager was VERY surprised about the second intake gasket but the guys working the desk said they get many, many of them to work on. Maybe it's just a coincidence but I don't thing so. Overall: I guess I'll NEVER buy another GM, but if YOU do you may want to get the extended warranty. I would NOT recommend the...

Questionable Minivan ?
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: Excellent cargo space for Home Depot visits. Middle and back row seats easily removed.
When back row seats are flipped down and pushed forward enough space for kids bikes, strollers, food shopping, etc.....
Cons: The cup holders are terrible. Had to replace the head gasket at 100K because coolent was leaking into engine.
Water pump went at the same time. Overall: The storage space and easy removal for middle and back row seats is the vans strongest features.
Having to replace head gasket and water pump at same time was a very unpleasing bill to pay...

Seats need to go back to the 99 model for comfort
Source: MSN Autos

...Love seat belt latches on the seat for shoulder belts, want them in the back seat also. Cons: Seats are not as comfortable by any means as the 1999 Venture we traded. No Lumbar support available, can tell they cut back on the cushion, even kids have made the comments, these seats are not as comfortable, now if a 5 & 8 yr old boy notice, don't think we didn't. Want my 50/50 split available and want the storage container made so the kids can slide the third row seat back for more leg room, like the 99 model. Overall: I think Ventures are dependable, had no trouble in 78000 miles on the 1999...

Best American MINIVAN
Source: Cars.com

..."This is by far the best American Minivan. Its reliability and features set it apart from Dodge and Ford.
The 3.4L V6 responds like big-block V8. The transmission works well with the engine as well.
The powertrain works well in any situation, from passing
on the highway to keeping a constant speed on hilly back roads. It seats 8 comfortably and holds enough luggage for all 8 on a week-long vacation.
The only downsides to this van are the interior and a couple of minor to moderate problems, none of which were very serious."...

Chevy Venture is a Disappointing Flop
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: A nice looking vehicle, roomy, seat 7. Large gas tank and good fuel economy for it's class.
Cons: Engine/transmission are problematic. The Transmission Pressure Control Solenoid is a known flaw, we've had it repaired once and it needs to be done again to the tune of $300.
My traction control works intermittently and my car jerks violently when I have "low traction" in reverse and low (presumably first or second) gear.
My air bag lights are on regularly, indicating malfunction, and I don't know what my dashboard would look like if the "Service Engine Soon" wasn't on.

Bad Investment
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: Looks nice. Cons: Every model is a potential lemon.
The biggest problem being the intake manifold gasket leaking coolant into engine.
Can be a very serious problem especially when the service people don't catch it.
This can easily turn a tens of thousands of dollars investment into a worthless piece of garbage. Overall: Do not buy!!!...

the ultimate minivan
Source: MSN Autos

Try again.
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: Excellent gas mileage. Roomy inside. Kids are comfortable.
Cons: I've had a lot of trouble with the coolant system; a lot of overheating and coolant fluid draining into the reservior and spilling out causing engine to overheat.
Less than satisfactory breaks. Overall: Definitely would not buy another one. The crash test ratings are not comforting and the engine cooling system is not reliable...
