Love my Tahoe
Source: Edmunds

...I have enjoyed owning my Tahoe and never regretted buying it.
The DVD player has been awesome with the grandchildren and also the 3rd seat.
Only had a few minor problems, car seat adjust and speed odometer quit working, but that was at 72k miles and the dealer fixed the odometer free.
Wasn't great on gas but I expected that when I bought it...

a durable, dependable & comfortable work horse

..."I purchased a new Tahoe in 1996 and continue to drive it today.
It's poised to turn 300,000 miles any day and still starts on the first crank and performs admirably.
I've always used fully synthetic motor oil and changed it regularly.
I did, however, replace the transmission at 220,000
miles but must admit that I never serviced it or changed fluid prior to the failure. This Chevy can hold its head high and compete against any foreign import.I can only hope,
now that I'm getting ready to replace it, that the 2009's are as well made."...

Great truck, but

..."Great truck, but you can go broke putting gas into itand it's little underpowered. It should be powered the same as the Cadillac, and GMC"...

Super vehicle

...Love my Tahoe!! I pull a 20' boat occasionally, and it's a breeze!
I'm a big guy (6'4") and I love the roominess. It's also a very comfortable ride, great amenities (all power seats, windows, etc., etc.), pretty good sound system, push-button 4WD.
I've garaged it and otherwise tried to maintain it well w/regular service.
It has been extremely dependable and very utilitarian (hey,
it's a sport "utility" vehicle, right)? If you are in the market for a used but dependable,
well-performing, roomy SUV (understanding you won't get Prius mileage, to say the least) and can...

..."Family bought this car brand new for the 4WD and traveling.
Very happy with this big beast!! Very powerful having the 5.3 liter flexfuel engine 295hp.
towing package works like a dream. never gets stuck 4WD works great rides good visibility is great for a big truck
!! one problem was the recall on the headers. Engine had to be taken apart and put back together ($1200)but thats the only problem. great truck!! 87,500 miles and still going strong!!"...

I am impressed!!
Source: Cars.com

..."I have put 22k miles on my Hybrid Tahoe and can find nothing wrong with it but a few things that could have been done better,
like 3rd row seats, no luggage rack, more storage. But these minor inconviences are easy to overlook given the luxurious interior,
great navigation and gadgets galore. My tahoe has averaged 20.5 mpg and I havent changed my driving habits at all.
I still am a leadfoot and have been pleasantly surprised with the performance in mpg despite my habit."...

Not as bad as Edmunds makes out to be.

...Interior space is also much better organized then the Tahoe. Interior is typical Dodge though, hard angler plastics. Bought this van because wife and I needed a good kid hauler. So far this is fitting the bill much better than our 07 Tahoe did. I'm 6ft, with a 2.5 year old sitting behind me, I can extend seat all the way back with room to spare. Couldn't resist Dodges 0% financing and employing pricing and other rebates. Basically bought a $39k van for $30k...

By Comparison

...My wife drives a Pathfinder of the same year and mine has 87,000 more miles and my tahoe has less wrong with it, better overall cosmetic look inside and outside.
The Tahoe is timeless. For this generation its hard to tell who has an old one and who has a new one.
By the way, the fuel economy isn't much different between the tahoe and pathfinder and the Tahoe is much heavier...

Clear headed

...This car drove nicely on flat normal freeways. Decent mileage.
When driving back from Lake Tahoe on I 80, we experienced an unusual problem.
The force exerted by this car, when going down hill on I 80, at or > 60 mph, was quite strong when turning toward the right, ~ 20 to 35 degrees.
It felt as though you were going to be pushed out the door of the car.
I slowed down and the sensation went away. Thereafter I drove this car at ~ 55 mph when going down hill from Tahoe Our agent said there was no accident with this car,
therefore it suggest a stabilizer type problem for...

Why should I also consider these?

The Nissan Armada and Toyota Sequoia are both a bit larger than the Chevrolet Tahoe and could also be compared against the larger Chevrolet Suburban.

Don't write off the Tahoe because of quality concerns, this truck is designed and built to run among the best of the best.

A properly equipped 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe can tow four tons, besting the Toyota Sequoia and Nissan Armada in this important category.

Compared to the Ford Expedition the big Chevy offers a wider choice of engines and TheCarConnection.com's editors appreciate its comparatively more responsive handling and great ride quality in the top LTZ models.

2009 Nissan Armada
Competitors to the 2009 Nissan Armada offer roomier interiors and better options, but the Armada should be commended for its handsome looks and powerful V-8 engine.

2008 Ford Expedition
The 2008 Ford Expedition is a big, capable SUV with a truly useful and convenient third row.

2008 Toyota Sequoia
The 2008 Toyota Sequoia is a capable example of the full-size SUV--in a day where the full-size SUV makes less and less sense.
