terrible
Source: Cars.com

..."I have a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado classic extended cab.
First of all the 4.3 V-6 is either wimpy or the thing is geared wrong.
It grinds between 35-40 mph. Thought that since the transmission needed to be replaced at 30,000 miles, it would rectify the problem, NO.
Same thing. I was told it is common. Bad plan. The paint is nice, the seats are large and comfy.
It rides great, but mechanically it has been a dissapointment.I have been a Ford guy for years and wanted to give GM another try at my loyalty.
They failed. It is also depressing to know that I paid 25,000 for...

Can't kill it.

...The only things I have replaced are the intake manifold, brakes, and a few fuses here and there. This truck has been through everything I've thrown at it, and it keeps puttin out. I got into a front-end collision on black ice, and replaced the hood, front driver fender, radiator mount, and lights, mirror, etc. It bounced right back, and never skipped a beat. The engine, although all the damage to the body, wasn't even effected by the crash. I have done regular oil changes every 3k to 5k, with the occasional 6K to 7K change. Even at 150K I can still punch it and get excellent pick-up from...

Excellent overall except for the fuel mileage
Source: Cars.com

..."Window sticker (5.3 v8) indicates 16 and 20 mpg. In 12, 181 miles average driving by a 71 year old male (long trips, short trips, etc.) the average mpg is 14.2.
I consider this very poor and unacceptable. If I had known this fact even though it's a very nice truck I would not consider it one I would purchase.
The cost of operation is going to be even higher as the perdiction of $3.30 average per gallon of gas this summer. (2008)"...

Problem Child
Source: Cars.com

...Terrible wind noise coming from windshield plastic trim, occurs at +50mph. Power lock button on driver side shorted 4 times. Stabilitrac failed & had to be fixed. Interior flooring and arm rest cracked at 39k miles. Fuel guage does not work, two front door speakers do not work. 4.8 engine is strong but wrong gear ratio causes excessive gear changes and probably the transmission failures. Rear end makes banging noise and truck bumps foreward like someone rear ended you when coming to a stop. Dealer ship says nothing wrong. I think thats everything... Better luck with yours, this will be my...

Great Truck, If Your Looking For Reliability And Dependability, Look No Further.
Source: CarGurus

...Truck handles and drives great but needs brakes and rotors already after 33,000 miles.
Just ran the truck from western Pa to Norfolk Va and had no problems whatsoever. The power up hill is great and am now deciding if I should trade my Dodge in for a another...

dependable truck

..."I've always wanted a truck since I was a kid. The chevy silverado newer version was just right.
It is a little hard to park but I've been improving on that.
Good acceleration and good handling. I like the sound of the engine when it accelerates.
Attractive exterior and interior. I drive it to work and school and its great. I average about 16-20 mpg. I feel safe in it!! Great truck!! Good job GM!!"...

Poor Mpg, Rattles, Fuse Box Full Of Snow, Wont Stop On Snow
Source: CarGurus

...For a truck thats suppost tobe so good, it an't, gets the same milage as my old 87 4x4 that had a 3 speed and modified 355,
25 liters per 100 kms, should be 10, rattles in the roof windshield like many othes i see,
the heater quit working ,then started again, the dealer wouldn't even look at it, already replaced front diff - broke in half...

Not enough power
Source: Cars.com

..."I have the 4.8 or 4800 series engine in my truck. It does not have enough power and is always shifting into pasing gear going uphill.
I have literally been passed by 4 cylynder cars going uphill while I cannot break the speed limit.
I bought the vehicle hoping to buy a camper and pull for long distance.
The salesman told me that this vehicle would do it with ease.
Not true. This vehicle can barely pull a 4-wheeler without constraint. I have taken it back to the dealer twice and both times they assure me that every thing is fine. I don't think so."...
