Still very happy with our Malibu
Source: Cars.com

...It has since turned out to be very reliable as much as our 1997 Lumina was. Since the suspension issue we've had a brake job, a new battery and a new alternater, besides tires and oils changes that is it. We have the 2.4 twincam I4, though rough running it has been a great engine and has great get and go. Felt comfortable getting this engine as my mom had a Quad4 in her Grand Am, again a rough running engine but has gobs of power. My wife loves this car and even though it is 10 years old refuses to give it up. We have added keyless remote and I just added an autodimming rear view mirror to it...

'06 Malibu Maxx LT - This was THE ONE
Source: Cars.com

..."I had looked for months online and on lots for a new car.
I had my heart set on getting a hybrid like the Saturn Vue until I test drove it.
I test drove dozens of cars but nothing felt right until the Maxx. The first one I saw was gold and it turned me off but I kept looking and found my black beauty...

I will buy American from now on
Source: Cars.com

...It handles very well and stays flat in the corners. Trunk space is huge! The seats are very comfortable and the gauges and controls are easy to see and use. My malibu has the 2.4L 4 cylinder because I wanted good gas mileage. It has great power and I get 33 mpg on the highway and average 29mpg on a tank of gas. The only thing I dont care for is the 6-speed transmission. It shifts from 6th to 5th gear on the slightest hill. Chevrolet should put a CVT transmission in this car. Then it will be perfect! I love the styling of this car also. Oh, and the headlights are VERY bright at night! No...

Be careful
Source: Cars.com

..."Be careful if you buy this car. I bought this used in 2004 from a dealership and have spent over $3000 to keep it running.
The head gasket and lower intake manifold gasket just went.
I have given up on fixing it - again. I have replaced the fuel filter, the entire gas line, the ABS (twice), the entire brake line, and multiple other things...

10 yrs and still going strong
Source: Cars.com

..."My wife and I bought this Malibu a year before we had our first child, planning for the future.
This was a GREAT choice for us and our family. The car runs well, few problems that I would need to bring up, maintenance is cheap, AND it's AMERICAN
!!We will definitely buy another Chevrolet in the near future.
Have about 125,000 miles on it now, have done regular maintenance like tires, brake pads and rotors, plugs, wires, etc.
But I expect that. IT'S PART OF OWNING A CAR!! GM got it right with this one. Go USA!!"...

Great car, but loses value FAST!!
Source: Cars.com

..."I have no serious complaints about the car. It looks nice, has had no reliability problems in 34,000 miles, and averages 31.5 mpg.
There is PLENTY of room behind me (over 6 foot tall) for kids, car seats, whatever.
The seats are comfortable for 2 hours a day of driving, but the visibility out of the rear and side is very limited because of the size of the pillars going up to the roof.
My main complaint would be a lack of power, and the resale value that has dropped over 10,000$ in just under 2 years."...

A lifesaver
Source: Cars.com

...A monthe later I was called in to work. It had all ready snowed a good 7 inches. I wasn't sure if I would make it there. Fortunately my tires had a great amount of tread on them. I let it warm upo for 10 minutes and then started to drive. I begin spinning slowly. The traction control quick-in and got me out of the drive way. Also i was impressed of how great the ABS worked while stopping; IT was stopping on dry roads. I My next endeavour was climbing the big hill before the main road. Last I got stuck. It went up the hill the same way with my Malibu Maxx and it harderly spun and when that...

A boat of a vehicle for a rental
Source: Cars.com

...It pushes back against your foot which makes it very difficult to drive on long trips. I rented this vehicle a week after renting a Chevy Malibu. The malibu handled much better and was a better all around designed vehicle. Although the Malibu could have used an additional 12v outlet. There are 2 on the malibu and 3 on the Impala. Overall If I were to have to pick which vehicle I would purchase between the two. I would choose the Malibu it is a much better value for the money and is a much better handling vehicle."...

Extra features well worth it!
Source: Cars.com

..."We purchased a 2006 Malibu LTZ and love the extra features, i.e., heated seats, remote start, adjustable gas & break pedals and the safety of OnStar.
We have been very pleased with the Malibu's performance and handling. It's wonderful to heat or cool you car while you are finishing dessert in a restaurant or ready to go at quitting time!"...

Why should I also consider these?

While the Fusion and the Altima will give you a more thrilling drive than the Malibu, neither of them is as roomy or comfortable inside.

This is especially true in the backseat, where the Malibu, along with the Camry and Accord, is very roomy.

The Malibu is further differentiated from its rivals when it comes to interior styling, putting cars like the Camry to shame with its attractive dashboard and premium-feeling materials.

The Fusion and Accord, however, feature interiors that arguably are just as good as the Malibu’s.

The Hyundai Sonata, though comfortable, isn’t quite up to scratch.

2009 Ford Fusion
The 2009 Ford Fusion is a great choice for those who place their priorities on style and handling, but if interior space matters to you, look elsewhere.

2009 Hyundai Sonata
TheCarConnection.com still rates the Honda Accord as the family-sedan champion, but the 2009 Hyundai Sonata lands solidly in the upstart tier that includes the Mazda6, Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Malibu.

2009 Toyota Camry
The 2009 Toyota Camry remains one of the best choices for those looking for a reliable and roomy—albeit plainly dressed—family sedan.

2008 Honda Accord Sedan
Whether you're looking for a comfy commuter in the $20,000 range or a luxurious, powerful $30,000 family sedan, the newly redesigned 2008 Honda Accord should be on your shortlist.

2008 Nissan Altima
The 2008 Nissan Altima is a little sportier, though not less sensible.
