Had 550i GT 5 days, In shop 12 days
Source: Edmunds

...Had the car for four days and the DDC failed. Dealer cannot fix the problem but they are trying.
I have no complaints with the dealer it is BMW that is the problem. Need a part from Germany but it will take, and I quote BMW, "WEEKS". To be continued...

Ugly!
Source: Edmunds

...This Car is the perfect example of a love/hate relationship.
The interior is flawless, it's simply gorgeous, handles good, But what was the designer thinking! It's the ugliest car in the world! It must have been beaten with the ugly wand! Ugh!...

Wonderful BMW
Source: MSN Autos

...The acceleration is strong & the handling is good, especially in sport mode. The hatchback gives it versatility in hauling larger objects. The ride is very refined. I'm enjoying this car very much. Cons: Nothing so far. Overall: Option packages can easily add $10-15,000 to the base price. A well spec'd car will run in the high $70's. Rear & side cameras are a must for this large vehicle. The idrive is easy to use. This new generation idrive is better than what Audi has to offer. The full roof panoramic sunroof is a great feature...

The ultimate driving machine get the car
Source: Edmunds

...By far the best BMW I've owned. 2 x5s, 2 x6s and 328ix and my new 550i gt stands out from them all.
Quality, great ride, sporty/athletic look (the pictures do not do this car justice.
You have to see it up close and personal). Got the 19" upgraded wheels, sport package, loaded, black on black. It's awesome! Get this car!...

the best sport cross over sedan
Source: MSN Autos

...Pros: The car looks very sporty on the road than on the pics..plenty of head and leg room and i bought the car loaded.
The rear convenience package gives a feel to the passengers in the back seat like in the first class of a plane..greatacceleration and drives like a beauty.
certainly a head turner.!!better than most bimmers i owned..if you're getting this car the blind spot might be a problem.
buy it with the driver assitance package as they have blind spot detection and it's certainly worth the money.absolutely great car i'll recommend for family and fun drive
!! Cons:...

Why should I also consider these?

The 2010 BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo is a unique vehicle with few clear competitors.

Chief among them is BMW's own X6 crossover, which rides higher and has a more athletic and, conversely, a more rugged stance.

It's aimed at SUV-lite fans, while the Gran Turismo is akin to the Lincoln MKT or Mercedes-Benz R-Class.

The MKT is a seven-seater, but like the BMW GT, it offers a stellar level of second-row comfort and adds a third-row seat and supercharged V-6 performance to its compelling style.

The Audi A6 Avant is one of the more, well, avant-garde wagons on the market, with a sleeker silhouette than the norm, a standard bench for its second-row of seats, and options for all-wheel drive and V-8 power.

The Gran Turismo's most direct rival might be the slow-selling Mercedes-Benz R-Class, based on second-row comfort, but the R-Class offers a third-row seat that stretches its proportions to ungainly lengths.

2010 Lincoln MKT
Supremely spacious and stunning from some angles, the 2010 Lincoln MKT gets truly arresting with its EcoBoost turbo V-6.

2008 Audi A6
The 2008 Audi A6 has plenty of competition, but its graceful look and feel set it apart from more brutal German and more clinical Japanese iron.

2008 Mercedes-Benz R Class
If you seek a supremely comfortable people hauler but eschew traditional station wagons, minivans, and SUVs, the 2008 Mercedes-Benz R-Class may be for you.
