Love the Q7 - Hate the Maintenance Costs
Source: Kelley Blue Book

...Shopped a number of SUVs and kept coming back to the Q7.
Love the styling comfort, feel on the road. This SUV is also great on the snow.
However, if considering this vehicle just keep in mind the VERY HIGH costs of maintenance.
At 18k miles we had to replace all four tires, brake pads, sensors, and rotors.
Really Audi engineers that is the best you can do? Make sure to budget for the thousands of dollars needed to maintain.
High cost of maintenance may keep us from getting another one and would have to caveat any recommendations...

Buy One If You Can.

...Beautiful car. Quick SUV. Shocks people with the amazing power in the motor.
Great for towing, also. Its mainly great when your driving to work in the morning, and give it a nice highway pull to wake yourself up to the sound of the V8...

New 2010 TDI Q7
Source: Edmunds

...My combined mileage, manually calculated from my first full tank was been about 23mpg. When you are idling or stuck in traffic, the mileage really drops off. I drove through a heavy rain storm last evening and as expected the heavy vehicle and all wheel drive performed flawlessly. The ride and cabin accommodations are elegant and quite comfortable. The large panorama sunroof gives the interior a very comfortable feel. The TDI is classified as an "Advanced Lean-Burn Vehicle" by the IRS and is eligible for a $1150 tax credit. Info is available on the IRS website...

Love my Q7 TDI!
Source: Edmunds

...I have had my TDI for about a month and I LOVE it! I consistently get about 25 mpg on my commute, a mixture of stop and go highway and side roads.
It has great power and I love the panoramic sunroof with electric shade.
I had a chance to use my air conditioned seats the other day and let me tell you, what a great feature! All in all, I am very happy with my purchase...

SUV of the Future
Source: Edmunds

...I owned the '07 4.2 Q7 before this and really enjoyed the car but wasn't thrilled with the lower gas mileage (18.5mpg).
I tried the Q5-good mileage but too small. The TDI is terrific-am averaging over 25 mpg on hway and city; over 28mpg on hway.
Upgraded MMI (easy to use); LED lights; when parking, warning sounds for front and back bumpers (plus rear camera).
Ride is smooth and quiet and excellent pickup from start.
Small delay in engine start when turning key. For fill up, had trouble finding diesel nozzle that fit-many are too big.
The electronic stability control...

Squeaking brakes & Bad Audi Srvice
Source: Edmunds

...I bought Q7 July 2009. Brought it back to dealer immediately for squeaking brakes,
not just regular squeak but the kind that people outside look over at your car-was told its normal due to heavy vehicle, could be humidity.
I have AudiCare & have repeatedly asked brakes to be inspected at ea visit.
was told to spray a hose directly at brakes to reduce squeak.
brought it back in around 25k miles - Service Dept told me to get on open road, drive as fast as i could without taking out a kid (yes, it's what they said) and brake quickly a few times.
Really?! I just want to...

Why should I also consider these?

Both the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne are related to the 2010 Audi Q7, but the Cayenne's a closer competitor, though it doesn't offer a third-row seat.

It's less attractive than the Audi, too, but a brutal Turbo version has scalding acceleration.

The Mercedes-Benz GL-Class SUV has crisp lines and a luxurious, roomy interior.

BMW's X5 struggles with plain design and a taller, less roomy package, but also has a blazing M performance edition.

The new entry on this list is the massive, flamboyant Lincoln MKT.

A seven-seat crossover with some kitschy features-how about a refrigerator inside?-the MKT has acres of interior room, good handling, a distinctive look, and a turbocharged V-6 option that makes it a dark-horse challenger in this pack.

Supremely spacious and stunning from some angles, the 2010 Lincoln MKT gets truly arresting with its EcoBoost turbo V-6.
