Nissan NV200 Van Concept bound for Tokyo

Nissan has released a preview of its upcoming NV200 small van concept that’s set to be unveiled at October’s Tokyo Motor Show. Designed at the Nissan's European design studio in London, the new NV200 is the follow up to Nissan’s previous Bevel lifestyle and recreational van concept that was displayed at January’s Detroit Show.

As Nissan’s chief creative officer Shiro Nakamura puts it, “a light commercial vehicle has a specific job to perform, but that’s no reason to design a purely rational vehicle with no warmth. For NV200, function becomes the aesthetic. Our concept is a highly efficient tool but one with a human touch.”

Its most striking feature is a storage pod that extends from the van’s load area when the vehicle is parked. As the pod is deployed, the now empty load bay is transformed into a mobile office with innovative ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ storage zones.
