The test vehicle seen here is sporting a new set of headlights, with the indicators moved to the outer corners. The shots of the rear also reveal some camouflage material over a set of newly designed taillights, while the exhaust pipes also receive an update.
Mercedes is unlikely to change the GL’s powertrain lineup as the car is still in its first generation. This means that the current GL 320 and 420 CDIs, including the Bluetec clean-diesels, plus the GL450 and 550 models will still fill out the range. However, there could be a number of modifications to the exhaust filtering systems to help improve emissions - especially with the diesel models - as revealed by the new exhaust pipes.
The interior should also receive a number of trim and specification updates but we’ll have to wait until the new SUV is released next year to get a detailed look. Mercedes is currently testing a number of updated models, including facelifted versions of the CL coupe and the S-Class sedan.
