It’s young versus old in this latest clip, with two of the hottest cars to ever come out of Maranello decking it out in the Nevada desert. In one corner we have the stripped out F40 from the mid-1980s and in the other is this generation’s technologically advanced 599 GTB. Both will have its fans so we’ll leave it to you to decide which one should come out on top.

Over produced silliness IMO. The 599 would completely outclass the F-40. It wouldn’t even be close.

    F40 0-60 3.2
    599 0-60 3.7

    F40 0-100 7.6
    599 0-100 7.4

    F40 0-120 11
    599 0-120 10.2

    F40 Max 201
    599 Max 205

So not that badly matched, also the F40 is considerably lighter, and has the engine in the right place, so methinks it could out handle the 599.. F40 looks better too IMO.

The car that wasn’t there would’ve won: Corvette ZR1

the F430 produces the same amount of power as the F40. the difference is about 400kgs.
The 599 is the better car obviously, but the F40 doesnt apologise for what it is. Its tottaly and utterly devoid of any mod cons. Even the door handles dont exist, merely a cord that you pull on to open the door. the designers really went to town in taking every single piece of weight they could off
