As Lamborghini’s Murcielago supercar nears the end of its lifecycle, designers intend to release a lightened version with even more power than the 641hp Reventon. Expected to pick up the fabled ‘SV’ title, used previously for the Diablo, the new model will weigh up to 100kg less than the stock version when it arrives in late 2008.
The information comes from an inside source at Sant’Agata who spoke recently with AutoWeek. The source also revealed the new car would likely be RWD, dropping the front differential and driveshafts to save weight, and feature plenty of carbon-fiber.
Like the Superleggera, engineers will focus on three main areas: interior, exterior and mechanicals. The interior will be stripped out and replaced with carbon, including the door innards, seats and center console.
The automatic spoilers will be replaced with a fixed carbon GT wing, and the stock wheels will be swapped with lightweight forged units.
E-gear will be standard, although it will be upgraded for faster shift times, and many of the stock aluminum components will be replaced with lighter magnesium pieces. Shift times are expected to drop from the current 0.4 seconds to around 0.2 seconds.

damn, what the heck their thinking,i mean removing the all wheel drive comon dont remove it modifie it,as for the stuff their gonna do in order to remove the weigth dont remove the electronic system that makes the intakes go in and out ,that makes the car more original,i mean its like taking of the tits of a hot chick,as for the spoiler what spoiler,it doesnt have one,but the wing makes the car look cooler, anyway dont take the all wheel drive,or the electronic intake that opens and closes ,rigth now just modifie the engine so that it makes 680horses,and 516 lb,ft torque, and for weight reduction, just use lighter weight materials, like aluminum, carbon fiber and magnesium,if tha doesntmake the car reduce more than 100 puonds than just leave it lake that dont mess the car just make it better the only thing it needs the engine modification so that the car becomes faster, and modifie the transmission so that the car has better traction, more acceleration and gives better times, and more top speed,i like the all wheel drive in the car and the electronic intakes that come in amd out,.thats my suggestioni mean just increase the power and torque, and modifie the traccion control, all wheel drive transmission, and chassis, suspension and as for weight loss just use lighter weight materials thats all i can says,i love the lp 640 if i had enough money i buy a dozen of those, and modifie 2 or 3 with atleast 700 hp like the edo lp g40 that has 710 hp,.tahts all make it better not whorse,.
