“Unofficially” the Veyron has already reached 253mph (407km/h) on this surface, so Volkswagen is fairly confident it can do the same under official observation. Currently, the Guinness World Record holder for speed in a production vehicle is the 245mph, 806hp Koenigsegg CCR. The Veyron already has the record for most powerful production car.
It's surprising that Bugatti hasn't tried to get the official record until now, especially when Koenigsegg's new CCX, with a theoretical top speed of 258mph, is doing the rounds.
News of the attempt was released by Castrol, who will be partnering with Bugatti during the test.

Yeah, I found it quite strange when I got the press release. So I spent ages fact-checking to see whether it was true or not!

I am sorry but this suposed record is (bullshitt) we have 70 Veyron in United State and no body can drive more than240 mhrs.the track Ehra-Leissien isnot legal,I remember when the guy from top gear on 5 kilometer say:you can t see the end of the track because the curve of the earth,Ican t believe it,if you don t see the end of the track it s only because this track have 1 degré slope gently down.why do you think guinnes don t apprrouvethe speed of 253 mhrs.the rule said you have to go in one directionand come backin the other direction in 1 hours, and Bugatti don t do that.it s for that guinnes don t reconised the speed and we know,Castrol the partner make a lot of pressure on Guinness for have the record.for me this is not fair.I say good luck to any boy who are clean.it s only because I like justice.(excuse my English I am french canadian from Québec city, anyway I do my best)thank Michel
