This is the first official look at the facelifted BMW 1-series, which marks the first major update of the car since its launch three years ago. The actual changes to the car are very subtle, with minor mods to the bumper and headlights that give it a slightly sleeker appearance. Mechanically, the only major change is that the small hatch gets the formidable 2.0L turbodiesel four-cylinder engine from the larger 5-series sedan, now with 177hp on tap.
A new three-door version is also expected to make a showing. The front doors will be longer to give it a sportier look, and the windows will be pillarless for a sleeker appearance. The most potent model will retain the naturally aspirated 3.0L straight six contrary to previous reports that the 1-series might adopt BMW’s potent 3.0L twin turbo unit.
BMW is expected to announce 1-series cabrio and sedan models down the track.

Great car. I read the regular 3.0 is rocket.
I wish it was available in the US.
