Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall on certain versions of its E350 4MATIC Wagon due to a potential issue involving the affected cars’ rear suspension. The recall only affects 2007 to 2009 E350 4MATIC Wagons built from July 1, 2006, through to April 30, 2009. There are approximately 3,613 vehicles affected by the recall in the U.S. According to the automaker, a connected rod for the load-leveling rear suspension system may fail. It's difficult to discuss the weight of modern cars without referring to the old Colin Chapman adage, "add lightness". Still, the old Lotus chap had a point--by making a car lightweight, you improve it in every dynamic area, and efficiency increases too. Automakers are once more starting to take heed, and CAR has revealed further details on Mercedes-Benz' take on a lightweight, carbon fiber, fuel-cell version of the next-generation E-Class sedan. Provisionally titled the E Superlight, rumors of the car started back in October. According to the latest details Mercedes intends to reduce the...

Ah, celebrity endorsement, where would we be without you? We certainly wouldn't have half as much amusement in our lives from watching singers and film stars do the most embarrassing adverts imaginable in exchange for a big suitcase full of money. It appears George Clooney likes big suitcases full of money. He recently did a cringeworthy advert for the long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz E-Class L in China. The 45-second whirlwind sees him arranging a date, but upon chauffeured arrival at the restaurant with his lady friend, he's mobbed by the press. Ever the hero, George takes over the driving to...

2011 Mercedes-Benz E550 Cabriolet: Driven
The E550 Cabriolet looks the part of luxury convertible cruiser in every way. It's not the sort of luxury convertible that you'd take the family to the Whippi-Dip; rather the one you'd use to take the friends out to gelato on a hot summer night. From pretty much every angle, whether you're...

All cards on the table: we think Reese Witherspoon is a big ol' slice of awesome. Not that she's fat or anything; when we say "big ol'", we just mean that she seems extremely awesome. She's a study in contrasts: a Southern girl with a tiny bit of a wild streak; pretty and refined, but not opposed to letting her hair down; and she's had fairly good taste in bunkmates. That's exactly the kind of gal we'd like to take for drinks. Now we also know that she's loyal to a fault. By which we mean brand-loyal. Not so long ago, folks were saying that brand-loyalty was all but dead, especially among Ms...
