Renderings of the next-generation Maserati coupe have turned up, ahead of the car’s reveal next week and its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Italian website Quattroruote reports that the car picks up the simple tag “Coupe,” and these images suggest that Maserati has dropped Giugiaro’s Italdesign in favor of Pininfarina for the new model.

maserati02.jpgThough styling has been inspired by Maserati’s Quattroporte sedan, the Coupe will be getting a much more aggressive look and a unique rear-end. The car also grows in all dimensions over its predecessor and will spawn three new body-styles. Maserati will be building a 2+2 Coupé, a soft-top Spyder, and a four-seater CC with retractable hard top.

Under the hood will be a Ferrari sourced V8 engine displacing 4.2L, which is expected to be followed by a more potent model with a 4.5L V8 developing around 500hp. Completing the drivetrain will be a Cambiocorsa clutchless gearbox or possibly a new six-speed ZF unit with paddle-shifters.
