Steve Saleen, the founder and president of specialty vehicle manufacturer Saleen Inc., has given crucial details about the upcoming changes for the 2009 Ford Mustang facelift recently at an enthusiast car show. When asked whether the Saleen edition will receive an increase in power to match the expected output of the 2009 factory version, the answer was a resounding “yes.” After meeting with Ford’s recently appointed CEO, Alan Mulally, Saleen came away with power levels for the new GT and Cobra editions of the Mustang.

According to Saleen, expect to see the stock Ford Mustang GT developing around 350hp from the current V8 and an additional 15hp for the Shelby GT500. Saleen’s updated versions will be up around the 385hp mark with 390 lb-ft of torque for the naturally aspirated model and 500hp with 460 lb-ft of torque for the supercharged model, and yes pricing is expected to remain the same.
